mikeys vox in wreath are his best ever, IMHO, the range of growls/screams are INTENSE! i love how sometimes he sounds like the keeper to the gates of hell and then sometimes he sounds like some creature screaming his esophagus out. its like i can totally picture his tongue hanging out all bloody when he does the screams before he comes back in w/ the deep growls...

at last, some discussing how good wreath is.
the first solo is unbeleivable and yes, the vocals are the most intense mike done imo \m/

i cant belive how many people crap all over this gem.

Wreath is great. Mike uses all heavy vocals, and I think that is amazing. Nothing against that at all.

That solo around 5 minutes in is fucking incredible. It's gotta be one of my favorites.

Also, for some reason, I really love the line "THERE IS NO ABSOLUTION!!!" followed by that cool drum fill. What an amazing song.

Hah, yeah "There is no absolution" is a cool bit. My favourite Opeth song, or song in general actually (well, When is up there too).

Why do people always make these sorts of threads? I mean, there was a thread dedicated to Wreath just last month, does there really need to be another one?

Oh man, the vocals in wreath are just out of this world. That is Mike's best work ever on growls. I caught Opeth live, for the first time at Springfield VA, on Nov 5th 2005. Mike entertained the crowd by producing growls of 4 different frequencies and asked the crowd to growl along with him. I was dumbstruck with the guys's range and power, especially when I saw him do it, live. And I was so much waiting for them to play Wreath live. Instead, they played Deliverance. But, overall they kicked some major ass.

I slightly prefer Deliverance I think, but Wreath sounds great! As good an album beginning as Leper Affinity/Bleak IMO.

when mike screams *there are no words left* i always get this image of him turning the lyrics sheet over and back again looking for a lost page, then improv-ing it :)

one of my fave opeth songs, love the consistent evil-ness, not too many *surprise* changes, which for opeth IS the surprise

'end of the search, coming of morning'
then theres a really mellow part for about 10-12 seconds which is really mellow and creates a fantastic mood, martins bass plays a really cool lick in that part to.\m/

Mikael's best growls ever. Some of Opeth's best solos and most evil sounding riffs. Far and away the best song on Deliverance.
