WTT: i5 for SM57/e609?

take a look at the ATM650...

The frequency response only goes down to 80hz - that kinda concerns me, since my lowest string hits 72hz. I don't want to be cutting off all my balls!

No, seriously - I love the 57 for guitars. I just want to try out the Fredman method, have another on hand for vocals and whatnot, and also have it to record band practices (stereo 57's comp'd to hell, easy way to see how tight the band is, where things need to be changed in songs, etc).

at one point I had 8 57s... I know 57s and like them... IMO you'll like the ATM650. it's got a real 57 flavor but not quit as boxy and no less bottom. don't discount the 650 based on a chart. anyways, if bottom is what you want, the 57 isn't it.

just a suggestion...

Good point... I'll be coming into some cash as soon as this damn 4x12 sells - I'll give one a shot!

Potentially gone to Egan.

I'd spend more time trying the i5 mixed with the 57 - not strict Fredman, but in my experience it does what I want even better. On that thought, hadn't you just raved about how lovely it was when you first got it?

Woah, the guitar tone in the "I picked up an i5, and am absolutely loving it" thread sounds awesome! Would you mind sharing your 5150 settings for that clip please?

Yeah, I did rave about it, but ever since getting the Mesa 4x12 and JSX, it's just been sounding scooped, hollow, harsh in the high end, and out of control when compared to the 57.

5150 settings were probably something like gain at 4, bass at 7, mids at 2, treble at 4.5, res at 7, pres at 8. OD808 infront.
