Your first Extreme Metal album(s)

first actual metal that was "extreme" was Lamb of God- New American Gospel for me. Then Six Feet Under- Graveyard Classics got me into death metal.

Metal came in my life through In Flame's Clayman. I thought it was pretty extreme back then. I had never listened to anything heavier than Disturbed, so to a 13 year old it was as extreme as it got.

I continued working through In Flame's discography, from Clayman on up to Come Clarity, then realized most of the newer stuff was crap. Soon after I discovered Insomnium, which started me down the road to death metal. Then I kind of worked backwards from Clayman, trying Whoracle and The Jester Race.

Mainly I stuck to bands with lots of melody in them and lots of hooks. Other bands influenced me to move away from that. I think the first real extreme metal band I ever enjoyed was Sepultura's Roots, if Insomnium isn't 'extreme' enough for the purists.

My first death metal album was: Deicide - The Stench of Redemption. and my first black metal album was Mayhem - Live in Leipzig.. Awsome Albums can't stop listening to either of them!

I'd say probably Kreator- Pleasure to Kill or Slayer- Reign in Blood, but if they rate as too commercial then it would have to be a band by the name of 'The Satanic Motherfuckers From Hell' and their album 'Funerals, Beautiful Funerals' which almost scared the living shit out of me, and would have to be the most extreme I've ever bought, or heard for that matter.

Saxon - Wheels of Steel when I was a wee lad, still one of my favourite albums.

The first album to have a REAL effect on me was Slayer - Reign In Blood. I'd heard extreme metal before that, but there's something about that album that changed my life forever.
