Your one shot at the big time

@li: and what are the options about the "what i want to do" bit?

i suggest a career as a first lady, since you want to be rich, own a nice house, AND do social work with the kids. it's typical first lady subject matter. and you might even stumble upon the save-the-world option by mere chance. don't really know about love songs tho.

wow, rusty, you and i have the same goals

except i dont really want a stupid woman to love me

No no no. You sound like my mother. "CAREER FIRST!" I want to work abroad for a year (more for the travel/life experience) first while I don't have any commitments. Will see how that goes. I bet I'll end up getting another job here though. Heh.

Oh, fuck me. I misread your post, Claudia. Falling asleep here, maybe I should go to bed.

yeah you did. i was looking at the screen with mouth agape wondering how come you took my post seriously. :p

@fireangel: believe it or not, what you said is very aligned with some of my own feelings on the matter. resources, conflict, social issues. i think that the solution for me is becoming president of the USA, and i'd gladly take you as a first lady (li was first, as stated in yesterday's post, but apparently she's having something with santtu), but then again you said you found love... heh, i'm always late...

WHO WANTS TO BE FIRST LADY? ben?

uh, i assumed it was clear: give me oral sex.

(no, ben, i didn't mean this when i mentioned you, but rahvin spoiled the grand scenario of Mighty Oak corp. taking over the world).

Unrealistic goals: Write beautiful love song that will move you to tears (or idari at least ;) (L), darling).
Unrealistic? :err: Where's the challenge! :p

I dream of owning a Ute. One day that dream will be a reality.
May I ask where you are from my friend?

@fireangel: it makes me smile how you always underline the distance that separates us. okay, okay, you're no bloody-minded conservative, everyone knows that.

as for tim, poor guy, he didn't do anything - we just see each other on a when-i-am-in-this-country basis, i don't really care nothing about a relationship, it's just a pastime on both sides. as for the other ones, you are obviously right, except that i still would prefer li if she only gave me a chance. :p

@fire: as for li, i'll try.

as for politics, i think it's a bit unwise in general to take opinions personally. it somehow hinders the lucidity of any debate, and while i can relate to feeling strongly for what one believes i also think that the fact that someone else has a different opinion should not be allowed to impact on one's emotions (if this someone else is not so close to you that you have to decide together over some important issue, that is). i mean - if i get depressed or angry for, saying, watching a michael moore film i'm not doing anything for any cause, i'm just increasing the risk of suffering a heart attack.

that's what michael moore movies are for, anyway, so it's our civic duty not to become victims of chemical weapons.

and i still didn't watch finding nemo, which is going to be even worse on my nerves... i decided for the godfaher, way more reassuring and sheer fun.

@rahvin
Not to mention a whole lot better as a movie.
And this is from a guy who hasn't seen it.

Godfather is the biggest, most overrated pile of crap
since the one I flushed down the toilet this morning.
I utterly despise movies that make criminals look like
heroes/cult figures.

i don't really think that any of the mafia characters in the godfather is made out to look like a hero. after all, the final scene presents us with a man who first kills a relative then blatantly lies to his wife: this is not a way to prop the character up in any way. all the others are continuously caught in a web of fibs and betrayals, which again doesn't present them in any rosy light.

edit:

@noga: i don't think you sound stupid. a healthy consciousness of the fact that you're just a cog in the machine, as a very small yet very promising band of some years ago would have put it, is the first step towards making a difference. there's nothing worse than people who have no means of changing things yet they rant and rave in bars about the sad state of public affairs. knowing that you can't do anything as of now is a pre-requisite for building a sensible strategy that will eventually catapult you (if you're tenacious enough) in a position where you can, indeed, have your say. it's up to you to evaluate whether your ambition is important enough for you to spill the necessary blood, sweat and tears along the way.
