There's new Digitech BassSqueeze compressor that allaws to compress high and low band individualy.. anyone checked it?

I'll spend my winter holidays on 'Kobylka Bass Days' with Wojtek Pilichowski as a teacher.. 5 days of non-stop bass playing :grin: As recommended bass player one of the best in death music in Poland is Novy - former Behemoth, now Vader.

I don't use compression because I try to get my dynamics on higher level (so I have to hear it). I don't think it's 'cheating' but I don't like compressed sound.. Only 'compression thing' in my playing is a limiter in my amp, so I don't get louder when I slap :) Is it cheating ;)

Groovy or speedy? Both! If you like brutal music find a band Trauma - Imperfect Like A God CD.. 4me best death thing in 2003.. I don't agree that Steve plays guitar-like.. for me it's a whole well done bass playing.. fast and groovy..

John Myung? I don't like it.. His god damn mathematic, not a musician.. there are no feelings in his playing.. I agree that his is one of the best technical players, but nothing more..

My bass and amp both costed 'bout 500$.. and they play well.. :loco:

Conklin.. Yeah - custom basses, but the money is the point.. Second thing that some people would prefer Wal, Fodera or GMR customs..

Yup.. two days ago (22 nov 03) my band had first gig.. We were most brutal band (though all were playing death) and I was the only bass player using fingers for picking :grin: Gig was great - there was about 250 people so we made the best score in that club ever (it's designed for 200 people...

Usual 4string bass has 19mm (0.75") string spacing @ bridge, but usual 5string has 17mm (0.66") so it's ok.. Look at Ibanez SR, Spector and many more 5string basses.. Of course you can find 19mm 5 string (Yamaha BB, Fender) or even 22mm (Warwick Wide-Necks).

I have Ibanez GSR205 and it rocks! Only had to change the bridge to make LowB more selective..

I play 5 string and I play brutal death.. I think everything is ok if your amp gives you selective and nice lows.. My band is tuned to C# but I use standart 5 string tuning: BEADG and its All OK.. Ibanez 5strings (also Spectors and ESP) have nice slim necks perfect for fingerstyle/picking...
