Nottingham - Rock City, 27th Nov

Cool! I should get one of those little mics - I'm impressed. Of course some parts of the venue sound better than others. Were you quite near the front? Would have been a good move under the circumstances - more backline hitting your ears (or mic) and less PA! Also, those mics compress <100 Hz...

Nottingham - Rock City, 27th Nov

Thanks for the clip! It certainly sounds much better straight off the desk than through the PA. But I still think the sound in the venue was absolutely crap. So is Rock City considered a bit of a shed for sound quality these days? I haven't been there much recently.

Nottingham - Rock City, 27th Nov

Only one problem with the Nottingham gig: The sound was bollocks. I mean, the band played great (no surprises there), but whoever was running the soundboard needs a slap. For the first couple of songs it was all kick drums and bass guitar, and the bass guitar was pretty much drowning everything...

    Influences or Chance......

I was big into comics at school (still big into comics now). Someone saw me reading a Judge Dredd comic and mentioned that some metal band had done a song about Judge Dredd. He couldn't remember the name of the band, but was pretty sure it started with "A"! I went to Rainbow Records - our local...

Everyone's top 5 bands other than Anthrax?

Five?! That's a tough one. Changes all the time, but right now: Minutemen (not Minuteman!) Meshuggah Cryptopsy Opeth Atheist Oh, that's funny, those guys change all the time too! Must be technical week over at Jinx's ;)

    O/T new Cryptopsy

Just got the new Cryptopsy CD "Once was not" yesterday. Holy crap! Anyone who likes technical death should definitely check this one out ASAP. Flo Mounier is really pushing the envelope regarding what's physically and mentally possible on drums. I don't know how he comprehends these patterns...

    No AC/DC without Chuck Berry.

The biggest asshole in heavy metal

Ha! Gene Simmons - perfect! That would be the ultimate whining band.

The biggest asshole in heavy metal

Guys, we're almost there! All we need is an ASS bass player, and we can construct an ASS supergroup: Phil Anselmo - Vocals Dave Mustaine - Guitars Kerry King - Guitars Lars Ulrich - Drums ??? - Bass Any suggestions for the vacant bass spot? Lord, imagine interviewing this band!

    He's also great album cover!

John Bush and Scott Ian back together!

Yeah! Rocky George in Fishbone! Awesome! Funnily enough, I only discovered that a couple of hours ago. Rocky's work in ST was unreal, and Fishbone are the bomb, so here's hoping for a new CD soon...

    Testament or Megadeth

TestamenT - I like the new Dragonlord album too.

The AMONG THE LIVING Walking Dude...

Scarier still, Billy Graham now looks exactly like the Among the Living guy. Seriously. I cut out a picture from the paper to post here, but I've lost it. This one's pretty good though.

o/t thinking about buying a drum machine

Try harmonycentral.com for consumer reviews. I've always been happy with Boss Dr. Rhythm machines.
