Mixing Opportunity for The Empire Shall Fall (ex Killswitch Engage, Jesse Leach vox)

Man that's a lot of tracks... Just getting it all organized took a while. What's with the drum tracks being stereo? I used just the 'left' from each of those, same with the vocals. About 2 hours total, no automation, static mix... I'd figure if it was paid I'd have spent a lot more time...

    Clipping analyzer?

The software reads the waves, and if there is a clip, the wave is squared off right? The software calculates the full wave as a D/A might output it, and from there determines clips. Generally it's standard practice to peak masters at -0.3dBFS to prevent the systems at the replicating plant...

    Ear Fatigue?

Ahh the lost beauty of rewind time... I have HS80s also, and they're a pleasure to mix on. Current DAWs certainly lend to ear fatigue only 'cause there is no seek time whatsoever, you can just loop till infinity, and your ears never get a break. I don't loop, and I leave 'rewind...

how many tracks does your average project take

My biggest projects show maybe 65 tracks. 2 kick 3 snare 1 hat 3 toms 4 overheads 3 room 2 bass 18 guitar 4 keys 2 sfx 8 vocals 8 auxes 6 busses 1 master but 90% of the time I blend tracks during tracking, so t's one snare, one kick, and one track for each multi mic'd guitar...

    Yamaha Sub kick

why on earth would you want that? it's like a 60Hz sine wave, but usually sounds distorted, and is totally useless on its own... but if you really want, I have some from some sessions...

Mainstream Rock with a touch of Southern... Mix comments please

This project has been months in the making, racking up about 1000 hours total. We started by tracking drums and bass live to a click, through homemade pre's straight to protools. Guitars overdubbed, tracked through Chandler TG-2 pres, and vocals with an ST55 through an M-Audio Tampa :-O ...

    Mic Polarity, Phase, and Overheads

well they're 3-4 feet away from your close mics, so they are time delayed just by the physics of sound. Think about the relationship between the wavelength and time, and you can assume that with two mics about 4 feet apart there's a reinforcement of about 250Hz, and a cancelling of 125Hz. So...
