why do you use an SM 57 vocals? anybody know the difference between the Shure Betas and the standard SM's?

yes, supposedly they have a good signal-to-noise ratio. but the A/D D/A converters are a bit noisy. all the RCA ins/outs were annoying too. had to pick up more cables/converters. how many simulataneous tracks do you see yourself needing? what kind of stuff are you recording?

power metal? please describe...

are you using a drum machine or software? if you have a MIDI capable machine, try playing the keyboard controller with your fingers, like you would play the drums.

if you're talking about software, try Propellerhead's Reason.

POD's are great for practice, or using direct. i sold mine and got a BOSS GT-6. the main reason for this is, there's a really noticeable gap in sound when changing effects with the footswitch. it's very bad...
