Well it depends on what genre you're talking about. Overall I think it was Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, and Tool.

I like the new cd a lot because I'm still a commercial fan to some degree but I do like the first cd a lot more. That first cd really is epic but it's one of those things that kinda grows on you because the music really is deeper than it seems on the surface.

Anyone in here fans of this band? I know this is probably a big stretch for Opeth fans but I figured I'd give it a shot.

I would start her off with The Drapery Falls. That's what really got me into Opeth. After that Deliverance is what made me start buying all their cd's. But try starting her off with probably Harvest first and then The Drapery Falls. That seems more like a good gradual introduction to Opeth...

Anybody heard about this? I was browsing the Metallica website and on their article about Kirk in the new Guitar World magazine at the bottom are some bands listed along with Opeth. Anybody know anything? This one might actually be worth buying if Opeth is in it.

his basslines really aren't all that hard either.

They really are great. I love playing along with them and GR definetly is some of his greatest works. He definetly is one of my influences as a bassist.

An interview with Mike said that he thought GR contains some of Mendez's best basslines and I agree with him. The basslines in GR are my favorites from Mendez! What do you guys think? This isn't about the basslines from pre-Mendez just the basslines he's written since he's been in the band.
