111 Artists pick their favorite 2005 CDs...

newsflash: you're not suddenly "broad minded" because you only listen to the most mainstream of releases because you've grown completely out of touch with your genre

i love it when the questioned musician votes for their own bands release ... pricks

I read this a few days ago, funny to see people's reactions. I got a bit of a laugh out of how many times albums like the new Soilwork got mentioned by people who you wouldn't think would listen to something like that. Jeff Loomis, for example.

On the other hand, some people were completely shocked that Dan Swano chose Green Day as one of his faves, but if you know much about the guy you know he's an unashamed pop music lover.

chances of me buying any future Sepultura releases starting now: ZERO. oh who am i kidding, i stopped buying their shit years ago. :loco:

nice to see Meshuggah - Catch 33 on several lists. that's the only real metal release that rocked my tits off this year.

i seriously can't stand musicians who think too highly of their work.

i mean okay, i honestly love my band and what we produce. but to even consider putting it into a Best Things Evar list just defies comprehension.

i need to hear the new Fear Factory because Billy Gould plays on it. although Archetype was pretty crappy so i haven't gone OMG NEW FF!!! or anything.

NEER NEER!
NEER NEER!
NEER NEER!
NEER NEER.

that's the beginning of Ride the Lightning btw and only slightly more awesome. so i think the amount of notes is what does it.

A few observations:

- As if any more proof was needed that Primordial was an essential RC band, Alan's list cements it.
- Who would have imagined that Steven Wilson & E-bortion would have strangely similar tastes?
- Why does Soilwork appeal to so many musicians?
- I was going to comment on the Swano thing, but Demilich beat me to it...
