2003 has had it's share of good albums, but 2002 had tons of killer releases by the likes of The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Superior, Missa Mercuria, Time Requiem, Arcturus, Opeth, Pagan's Mind, Borknagar, Shaman, Tomas Bodin, Porcupine Tree, Vintersorg... and that's just the proggish end of the spectrum. 2003 just hasn't been as good IMO.

Discuss.

i will give you vintersorg and borknagar. symphony x was good as well. However, overall i have to say that this year has been better... but that's all personal oppinions.

Huge disappointment? Hardly.

Nightingale, John Arch, Anthrax, OSI, Devin Townsend, Dead Soul Tribe, Section A, Adagio, As I Lay Dying, Edge of Sanity, Nightrage, etc

All came out and they were completely awesome. This year may not have had the most winners to it, but there are definitely some great releases this year. I would have to agree that 2000-01 was the best years for metal though. It has been a good year.

well let's not forget the new DT album in early november. the Frameshift project in Novemeber. I read on the DT forum that a new SymX album is coming out on november 13? is this true? there'd be more discussion about it if there was...
