Okies. Hope you get the plot. Kinda like a "forum awards" style thing only not about giving each other reach arounds. I wrote the questions by the way. I didn't just copy them from some piece of shit that's being passed around myspace.

* Best film: Stay

* Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? Well it's my first year here so... pretty cool though, I've met some interesting people !

* Best gig:

* Best CD: The Black Waltz. Best one i´ve bought must be Still Life.

* Best Band: I really got into Opeth for real this year, but i´d heard them before so i wont count it. After them, i guess it´d be Kalmah.

* Best song: 747 by Kent, To a bitter halt or The Moor with Opeth

* Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): First kiss ever, and the Hultsfred festival this summer together with a truckload of friends.

* Best trip/traveling experience: Going to England and studying there (or rather, the trips to London from where i was staying).

* A new person you've met and how they have affected you: I´ve just met a new friend who is very nice. She´s one of the most intelligent people i´ve met, and especially so at our age.

* Best film: I´ve hardly seen anything at the movies, but i saw "the godfather II" for the first time, and that was a really good one.

* Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday, easily, now this is a worthy WW2 simulation.

* How many jobs you've held and how were they: None  , except working with the election and make everything work in the polling stations.

* Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? : Ups and downs, met a girl and fell completely for her, but was later dumped. It was destined to happen sooner or later, I can tell now when looking back at it.

* In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year? I listen to them (almost) at all times. I missed out the DT/Opeth concert in London though, and I will never forgive myself for that.

* What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently? I could have acted way much stronger during the breakup with my ex, and I should have made more out of my time in England.

* Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? Havent been posting very much so I cant say I´ve formed an opinion.

* Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): First kiss ever, and the Hultsfred festival this summer together with a truckload of friends.

Oh, so you all kissed together in a lorry... How nice... oh my... purrrr

:heh:

This survey made me conclude that 2006 was really a non-year of sorts.
  • Best gig: Hard to say. I didn't particularily like any of the gigs I've been to, and I was emotionally hurt by realizing that I was too afraid to launch in the mosh pit at the Agnostic Front show this summer (so I left before they played, go figure). Anyway, if I have to pick one it would be Banda Bassotti in Genova in April.
  • Best CD: Good year for records, at least from where I stand, eventhough nothing really blew me off my feet. I'll go for Good Riddance's "My republic".
  • Best Band: 270bis. They're not even playing anymore, but I got into them this year.
  • Best song: All good songs seem to have been written in 2005. I honestly don't know.
  • Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): Ditto as above, nothing important happened this year. Probably the most relevant event was signing the contract for my new flat on September 19th. Although it made me proud, it was not exactly a moment of euphoria.
  • Best trip/traveling experience: Argentina in February
  • A new person you've met and how they have affected you: Again, the answer to this is a scary "Whoever did I meet this year?". Lots of acquaintances, but nobody mind-blowing. The last mind-blowing person I met dates back to last year, and it is a woman at that.
  • Best film: I can't for the life of me remember when movies came out.
  • Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): THUG2
  • How many jobs you've held and how were they: Three. Job #1 is my regular one and I'm happy with it. Job #2 involves writing textbooks for school and I'll give an evaluation when I know how many schools choose my book (that will be in 2008). Job #3 was related to evaluating web content and it was ok although a bit boring. Oh, and I also trade half-successfully.
  • Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? : Oh gods in heaven. Do you know what? I haven't even kissed a man throughout the whole year (teh horrore), nevermind having relationships. I am realizing this now.
  • In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year? I tried to listen to Character with a measure of attention but failed.
  • What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: It would have been better if I hadn't spent it completely focused on work, real estate, preventing my family from causing trouble, and drinking. What a fucking waste of time.
  • Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? I'm not impressed by new people.

  • Best gig: Can december 2005 count :p ? if yes, I'd say DT i nAntwerp, Dec. 8, 2005. otherwise, Wacken was the best festival I went to, in 3 years (it was the 2nd time i could stay for the whole thing -my mom didnt want me to before i was 18-, but it was way better than Graspop)

  • Best CD: Summoning: Oath Bound

  • Best Band: That i discovered this year: Summoning

  • Best song: Amon Amarth: Runes to my Memory

  • Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): heh, once again, i would like to say, DT in Antwerp last december. But for this year, i would say the day I came to Bremen to live with Konrad.

  • Best trip/traveling experience: moving to Germany

  • A new person you've met and how they have affected you:
the best person i ever met was Konrad last year, but this year i would say 2 French friends of Konrad, who went to Wacken with us. Long time since i could speak a lot with someone i just met, and also talk about more personal things...

  • Best film: i can never remember when the movies come out, nor can i remember the story of it after a few days. But the last one i saw was Borat

  • Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): Dawn of War: Dark Crusade

  • How many jobs you've held and how were they: none, I have no time besides University

  • Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? : :headbang:  I love you :) i found the man i was looking for since such a long time

  • In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year? suceeded in making my brother likes some of their songs (he hates death/black metal because of the vocals and blast beats)

  • What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: I wish i didnt get upset too fast when something gets on my nerves, and not being so negative about things I do (I always see the dark side of things :(

  • Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? people comes, makes tons of posts for a few months and then disappear :p. A lot of newbies were kind of strange ( i mean people who came after me, since I have only been here for 1,5 year) .

* Best gig: That would have to be an ex aequo between DT's headline performance at the Club Soda on february 27th and uneXpect's show at the Théâtre Plaza on september 29th

* Best CD: uneXpect's In A Flesh Aquarium without a doubt.

* Best Band: uneXpect again...they had a wonderful year and the release of their new album really launched their carreer on a higher level, slowly growing to become international (I hope).

* Best song: There is more than one of those...I managed to break it down to four:
1. uneXpect - Desert Urbania
2. Mastodon - Capillarian Crest
3. Eluveitie - Your Gaulish War
4. Moonspell - Finisterra

* Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): When we played our first live improv game.

* Best trip/traveling experience: My four days of fun in Montréal with Kat!

* A new person you've met and how they have affected you: Marion and she simly taught me to enjoy life even more than I already did.

* Best film: Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain

* Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): I don't play those really...

* How many jobs you've held and how were they: 3 and they were all good.

* Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? : Aye, I got close to a relationship earlier this year, it didn't work. I moved on and all I have to say is that 2006 isn't over yet, something might change.

* In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year? Actually they got into my year through their two live performances in Québec and Montréal. Apart from that I wasn't that much DT-esque this year.

* What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: Nothing, this year is unique like all others I've lived. There's no way I can improve life experience. Things I've done I now realize I shouldn't have only came clear to me because of what I lived this year so I don't feel like changing anything.

* Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? It went good. Lots of storms but nothing crazy enough to write a novel about. I think I'm getting to appreciate more and more this small internet community.

  • Best gig:
Didn't go to any this year. :(
  • Best CD:
Hrm. Katatonia's "The Great Cold Distance" was really nice, even though I overplayed it and now don't listen to it that much.
  • Best Band:
Good question. I'm assuming this means a band I hadn't heard of before. I hadn't really listened to VNV nation before (like 1 or 2 songs), so I'll have to put them in there.
  • Best song:
Single best song... hrm...
  • Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one):
Finally graduating. The gf getting into MIT. Hanging out in Boston.
  • Best trip/traveling experience:
Trip in May with the gf. Was awesome finally having a vacation to ourselves.
  • A new person you've met and how they have affected you:
I haven't really met anyone new who has affected me. I've met new people, due to my new job, but none have really significantly impacted me.
  • Best film:
I didn't really think any of the movies I saw this year were really that great.
  • Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year):
None. Pretty much stuck with the same old games.
  • How many jobs you've held and how were they:
Just the one so far. It's ok.
  • Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? :
It was a good year for the relationship. It's getting tougher, due to the distance, but it's still good.
  • In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?
Rediscovering The Mind's I was one of the best moments this year. I really remember now why I loved that album so much.
  • What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?:
I would have looked for a job up in Boston from the start. Would have made so much about this year so much easier.
  • Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?
It was interesting. I've been alot more active than I had in recent memory. The whole song thing was great fun. All in all, I'm happy with it.

~kov.

  • Best gig:
Either Emperor or Amon Amarth with Wintersun and Tyr

  • Best CD:
Insomnium - Above the Weeping World

  • Best Band:
Gojira... they've toured hard and are sounding more gigantic than any other. Notable mention also to Anathema though for being unsigned, still playing music and still out of their own pocket recording! Two amazing tracks and countless amazing gigs this year. These bands share a common love for our plannet and are encouraging people to try their hardest to respect the earth and help in anyway possible to preserve it.

  • Best song:
'Everything' by Anathema or 'A Warm Room' by Envy.

  • Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one):
Swimming in the ocean in Corfu was quite legendary. Also 06/06/06... Went into the woods and went a bit nuts with BBQ and alcohol. Everything involving my new Girlfriend. Also me and my friend Lee catching a meteor shower.

  • Best trip/traveling experience:
Went on a couple of treks in summer. One involved deep roaming into the heart of rural yorkshire... pitch black pretty much, just moonlight and stars to guide our way. Also the whole Emperor London experience.

  • A new person you've met and how they have affected you:
Anastasia... my girlfriend. She's just amazing really... she genuinely makes me happy.

  • Best film:
Either Brick or Happy Feet (Happy Feet is really fucking good by the way. Thought provoking, funny and glorious to look at).

  • Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year):
Mount and Blade... Legendary fairly simple engine and equally great gameplay.

  • How many jobs you've held and how were they:
I finished my paper round once and for all and started at Blockbuster video. The manager is terrible! But the Job has brought me close to the community and I appreciate the money :D

  • Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? :
Just the one girlfriend. Still with her now. Been a few months all together. She's a great person and really brings out a side in me that I don't see often.

  • In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?
Listening to them before falling asleep alot, when I'm in the mood for some nostalgia. Also longing for the new album! Hoping for a substantial UK tour next year :D.

  • What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?:
Not suffering anxiety... although it's been a bit of a wake up. Also if my band had done more shows. We've had a set since october and we've only played twice. Not cool.

  • Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?
I felt pretty indifferent. I've enjoyed posting but the interaction doesn't feel the same anymore. It feels either forced or immature alot of the time, but now and then the communal element that inspired my love for this place returns. The DT forum song was awesome fun. Also the 1000 things about DT thread.

  • Best gig:
Nevermore!

  • Best CD:
Ihsahn - The Adversary definitely, though I do still have a few albums to listen through that came out this year.

  • Best Band:
Not the band of the year as such in terms of recordings, but the best band for this year anyhow...Solefald.

  • Best song:
Seriously hard to choose one...
Tom Waits - The Part You Throw Away or Solefald - Sagateller. Or many others.
Addition: Insomnium - The Gale. Simply beautiful.

  • Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one):
It didn't feel that special, but I suppose the best thing was to get out of the army. Not a very special year all in all.

  • Best film:
Haven't watched enough to care to decide on the best one.

  • Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year):
World of Warcraft.

  • How many jobs you've held and how were they:
I have a job of sorts at my old school, but it's not really a paying one...just get unemployment money by working 6 hours a day there. How logical. It's relaxed, but then again when you sleep 5-6 hours a night, those kids can get pretty damn annoying.

  • In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?
Listened to them here and there, I guess.

  • What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?:
I would've spent a lot less time being a depressed mess, but then that would've required changes far before this year.

  • Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?
Pretty much crap.

Just took out the questions I only would've had awkward answers to anyway.

* Best gig: I only went to one major act, Nine Inch Nails (one of my favorite non-metal bands), but my favorite gig was my friends band, Oversight (non-official name, I think another band has it already, and my friends' band isn't even signed to an indy label - all self-produced), that played at a local club - it was a funny, great, intimate show.

* Best CD: The best cd I bought was Haven (Dark Tranquillity), but my favorite cds that came out in 2006 are 10,000 Days, Gojira's From Mars to Sirius (just got that a couple weeks ago, and I really enjoy it for some reason) and A Beautiful Lie (30 Seconds to Mars)

* Best Band: Dark Tranquillity, followed by Nine Inch Nails

* Best song: Fabric by Dark Tranquillity, The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars

* Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): Spending time with my g/f at college (self-explanitory), NJ Governor's School of the Arts 2006. The Governor's Schools is a four-week program in July open to high school juniors going into senior year, in all different areas of study (Arts, Engineering, Foriegn Study (think a mock UN), Environment) held at different state colleges around New Jersey. The program was almost eliminated from the state budget but funding was found in the private sector so it was re-instated. I applied for the Arts, specifically Creative Writing. Only about 120 get into the entire Arts program (most of them in music) and only 12 (including myself) got in for Creative Writing. It was the best July and the best Summer I've ever had.

* Best trip/traveling experience: I would've travelled in July but didn't because of the Governor's School

* A new person you've met and how they have affected you: All of my Governor's School friends and new friends I've made at my high school have affected me - whether slightly or as a person - so I couldn't pick one.

* Best film: The best film I saw in theatres was probably Borat, but the best film I watched was Survive Style 5+ (google it), a Japanese film.

* Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): Rise of Nations or Empire Earth II

* How many jobs you've held and how were they: 1, at Target, and so far so good.

* Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them? : Been with my g/f all year, and it's been great.

* In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year? They changed my favorite song and have enhanced the year overall, as usual.

* What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: I wish I had more time to relax, so I wish I took less hours at work (30+ hours plus a week plus a 7 hour school day - some do have it worse, but I'm not used to this).

* Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year? I enjoyed it even though I've only been here a few weeks. People are generally nice and I couldn't ask for anything more.

Best gig:

new model army, i think. emperor at wacken was great as well.

Best CD:

there's been a lot of really good albums but nothing standout-ish, so if i start mentioning something i'll just get stuck in namedropping.

Best Band:

my mid-90's punk heroes dia psalma reunited for some gigs, so i'll say them out of pure nostalgia.

Best song:

same as best cd.

Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one):

possibly a bad sign, but i really can't get to think of anything in particular.

Best trip/traveling experience:

my august vacation which consisted of a trip to wacken and then directly to (swedish island) gotland.

A new person you've met and how they have affected you:

new guy at work. i finally have someone there to discuss politics and things related with. yay.

Best film:

i'm always horribly late when it comes to movies, so i've hardly seen any from 2006.

Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year):

a swedish online version of scrabble.

How many jobs you've held and how were they:

one, same old. it's ok.

Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them?

-

In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?

2006 hasn't been much of a dt year for me, actually.

What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?

i didn't obtain world dominion this year either. :(

Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?

haven't been around much...

Best gig: the whole Brutal Assault fest (Gorefests gig in part.), then Hiromi

Best CD: Keep of Kalessin - Armada

Best Band: Keep of Kalessin, Mastodon

Best song: Keep of Kalessin - The Wealth of Darkness

Most pleasant memory (or memories if you care to tell us more than one): the dinners with my wife at one special restaurant in Prague

Best trip/traveling experience: Prague, eastern Slovakia, discovering beautiful places that are so close to me

A new person you've met and how they have affected you: -

Best film: Volver, The Departed

Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): -

How many jobs you've held and how were they: the one Ive had for 1,5 years now, my company is doing fine

Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them?: -

In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?: I bought originals of most of their regular albums, have been listening to them here and there

What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: the same as every year, me keeping my mouth shut on some occasions, this seems to be the permanent "wouldve change" every year *sighs*

Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?: it had its ups and downs, 2005 was way better I think

This is actually my first posting at the DT forum so I'll start off with a big hello to y'all! :)

Best gig: Moonsorrow at Jalometalli Festival

Best CD: Amon Amarth "With Oden on Our Side"

Best Band: Amon Amarth / Mastodon

Best song: Amon Amarth "Valhall Awaits Me"

Most pleasant memory: To many to pick one. The Jalometalli festival experience was awesome, partywise. My brother's wedding was a blast. Everyday with my family is killer :)

Best trip/traveling experience: I've been a "homeboy" this year

A new person you've met and how they have affected you: Mika Luttinen of Impaled Nazarene. A crazy dude. As crazy as they get.

Best film: Pirates II

Best computer game (doesn't have to be from this year, only if you discovered it this year): Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

How many jobs you've held and how were they: I'm a teacher. Been teaching for 3 years now after graduating.

Boyfriends/girlfriends; Anything you want to say about any or none of them?: I love my fiancée and daughter til death.

In what ways did Dark Tranquillity fit into your year?: Not a week goes by without either "The Gallery" or "The Mind's I" making a round in the cd-player.

What could have made this year better i.e what would you change or have done differently?: Nothing really. It's been a great year overall.

Finally, how did you feel about the Dark Tranquillity forum this year?: Ehh, well I'm not really apt to discuss this I think :)
