It seems as though Arghoslent is in the recording studio, so maybe the new album will finally happen in 2007...man, the new Arghoslent, the new Megiddo, the new Guns 'n' Roses...this could be the year of miracles.

That and a new Deathspell Omega album (which seems likely, though I haven't herad anything confirming it) would alone make it an awesome year for music. A new Arckanum album would be cool as well, even though I'm not so sure about the quality of that one as with the two former

a new arghoslent would be welcome, but man, it seems we've been waiting on that one for a while....kinda like the new Dawn album

Is it just me, or do albums released quite early in the year tend to get forgotten on end of year lists? Or score somewhat low, comparitively?

That does happen from time to time (premature leaks may contribute) and I've seen lots of lists dominated by fall releases, but there are exceptions...I remember seeing Mabool being near the top of many 2004 lists, and that was fairly early that year. Or Katatonia last year.

Yeah, early releases are generally forgotten when it comes to year-end lists. It's kind of like the Oscars in that regard, which is why so many movies do a limited release in December so they'll be the freshest on the minds of the voters. I generally relisten to everything from a year before posting my list, which is why my list isn't done yet (that and finally tracking down several releases I was keen to hear but never did).
