2010 releases you look forward to

Iron Maiden. Hopefully out by the end of the year.

Aside from that, new Nevermore is probably on the top of my list. It could really push them to the top of the metal world I think, can't wait to hear it.

New Dark Tranquillity is on the list. New Marilyn Manson. Hope new Anthrax sees the light of day this year. Am sure there is others.

There are a few I'm looking forward to (some already heard previews of):

H.E.A.T. - Amazing young melodic hard rock band from Sweden, saw them in '08 when they put their first album out. They just released a single from the upcoming album which I wasn't that impressed with but the 2 b-side tracks with it are absolutely outstanding and sound even better than their first album so I'm hoping the album sounds more like them, could easily be an album of the year candidate.
Treat - First album with the original singer since '89 comes out soon.... Classic Treat hooks with a heavier, more modern edge.
Pretty Maids - New album due for the end of the year, in the studio at the moment. Can't wait as Pretty Maids are one of my favourite bands, hands down!
Keel - Heard a preview of this one, sounds like vintage Keel. Melodic '80s metal with huge gang vocals & Ron's over the top metal anthem voice, more melodic than the first 2 albums though, probably closer to Final Frontier and self titled which works for me!
Ratt - New single just released and sounds like Reach For The Sky & Detonator era Ratt. Album due in a couple of months, looking forward to it!
Crazy Lixx - Young Swedish sleaze band who had a killer debut in 2007. New album due soon, sounds excellent! Super melodic glam/sleaze with huge choruses.
Work Of Art - These guys, like H.E.A.T, also had a great debut in 2008 with some amazing AOR so looking forward to the followup! Apparently due mid year.
White Sister - Los Angeles AOR band from the mid 80s who reformed for Firefest in '08 and were simply amazing. Only did 2 albums, first is one of the all time AOR greats, and have a new one apparently due this year!! Can't wait to hear what they come up with!
Crashdiet - Curious to hear their new one. First album Rest In Sleaze (2005) was absolutely killer Swedish sleaze. Second album (2007), second singer, didn't like that album at all (not because of the singer, just weak songs). Third album, with a third singer now, due in April.

Easily the most anticipated album for me: ARK "Aradiokaos". I've been waiting for ARK's third album for nearly a decade now and anticipate nothing short of brilliance.

New Rage lived up to expectation, haven't heard new Blaze yet. The other main bands I'm looking forward to releases from this year are Angra, Rhapsody (of fire or whatever), Pain of Salvation (2 albums apparently), Symphony X, Dew-Scented, Cynic, Braindrill, Fates Warning, Devin Townsend, Demons & Wizards, Angel Dust, Deep Purple, Blind Guardian and Vanden Plas. Oh, and the fruits of the surprise Transcending Mortality reunion to be announced any day now.

[edit] I should add: the other main metal/rock bands I'm looking forward to releases from :p

Iron Maiden. Hopefully out by the end of the year
Didn't realise they were planning an album for this year. I still haven't gotten into AMoLaD at all though and feel their albums are gradually getting worse after BNW so I'm not really expecting much anyway.

Haha, I think they are getting better since BNW, and can't wait.

If Demons & Wizards do anoher release this year I will shit bricks. I know they have said for years that they planned to get back together in 2010, but I will believe it when I see it. New Blind Guardian might have to do.

I've given DoD and AMoLaD a few spins today at work in light of a new album on the horizon.
So far all I've gotten out of it is a dislike of "Montsegur". It could almost be called "Angel and the Gambler (Part 2)" in that it's an otherwise awesome song turned into an annoying one by a repetitive chorus that doesn't know when to stop. "At the GATES! At the WALLS! OF" ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I GET IT WE'RE AT FUCKING MONTSEGUR GIVE IT A REST!

I don't mind the song, but for the most part I don't think they really knew how to handle writing a 'heavier' song on BNW and DoD. Fallen Angel and Montsegur both rely to strongly on the riff and fail with vocal melodies. It took 'Brighter Than 1000 Suns' for them to get it right, but then, they got everything right on AMOLAD IMO.

I never realise what is coming out until only a couple of weeks before it hits, or it is out.

The only couple still to come out I am this year are of course Iron Maiden, an dI learnt Toe to Toe have a new one out in May, that is gonna be awesome

Really excited about the new Nachtmystium album. Few other good albums coming (Ufomammut, Ne Obliviscaris etc) but I know what to expect from those, the Nachtmystium one is going to be a surprise though I think.

My esteemed colleagues Mr Winmar and Mr Blitzkrieg are indeed correct, both on the 'wicked-ness' (a favourable term of slang used by today's urban youth, or so I am told), and the 'awesome-ness' (again, favourable slang, not in the biblical sense) of this 'website' www.booko.com.au.

It basically searches 30 odd book selling websites and gives you a ranked result for best price + postage. If it is something new or easily available it nearly always directs you to the Book Depository which have cheap prices and free shipping, and accept paypal. But Booko is a handy tool, if you buy after following the link I believe the developer gets a commission on the sale which is hopefully helping to push the DVD search (based on the same principle) out of beta stage.

Yep, everything I've bought so far is from the Book Depository, though a few searches I've done of late have pointed to cheap prices elsewhere too.

I've put half my office onto that site. It's wicked-ness and awesome-ness cannot be doubted! :)
