2010 releases you look forward to

My esteemed colleagues Mr Winmar and Mr Blitzkrieg are indeed correct, both on the 'wicked-ness' (a favourable term of slang used by today's urban youth, or so I am told), and the 'awesome-ness' (again, favourable slang, not in the biblical sense) of this 'website' www.booko.com.au.

It basically searches 30 odd book selling websites and gives you a ranked result for best price + postage. If it is something new or easily available it nearly always directs you to the Book Depository which have cheap prices and free shipping, and accept paypal. But Booko is a handy tool, if you buy after following the link I believe the developer gets a commission on the sale which is hopefully helping to push the DVD search (based on the same principle) out of beta stage.

The last album was 'Godspeed On The Devils Thunder' which was released in 2008 and is the most aggresive thing they have done in a while. The one before that was 'Thornography' released in 2006 and is the most commercial one they have done, and 'Nymphetamine' was the one before that, released in 2004.

I totally agree. They get very little respect as songwriters and are seen more for their controversial image than for their music. Some of their music is mind blowing and Dani is a lyrical genius. I once read that he has a phd in poetry and fine literature or something which is not at all surprising. I like all their albums, but 'Nymphetamine' is the stand out for me and easily rates in my all time favs.

Damnation was the last album of theirs I picked up and I enjoyed it. Not amongst their best, probably sitting alongside Cruelty and the Beast as one of the weaker albums, but still very worthwhile.

I am just really interested in what direction the new album will take, considering the last three have been so vastly different.

Yeah Midian would probably be my second fav. I also really like Dusk And Her Embrace for their earlier stuff. The first 4 or so tracks on Godspeed are awesome as well, but the album doesn't hold up in the second half and is too long I think.

Yeah Phlog I would say Nymphetamine is a good representation of all their stuff and is their best album. Also a lot more accessible than most of their stuff. Thornography would be the only album that is easier to get into I would think, but is a bit tame and watered down so doesn't give a great impression of the band.

I for years will admit I only avoided them due to a ridiculous image, and press that seemed to match my preconception, but I guess with age or boredom of music I was listening too I downloaded a track or two, then bought the album when I saw it was cheap

Yeah they're a fuckin' cool band. Not considered too be tr00 by a lot of black metal knobs, but who gives a rat's arse? They make lots of good albums. Saw them live in 2001 or so and they rocked.
