2014 Shows

Dark Tranquillity + Omnium, maybe Carcass + Gorguts + Black Dahlia + Noisem, and probably Comeback Kid + Xibalba. Heavily considering MDF 2014. I feel like after going to MDF almost 2 years ago now, most shows are kind of lackluster and I'm not motivated to going to more than like 3 a year.

I know Sabaton/Revamp is coming up, as well as Primal Fear. I may make the trek to Baltimore for Dark Tranquillity too. Other than that (and PPUSA of course), I don't have much on the concert radar.

Then you should come to PPUSA. Which, sadly, is the only thing I know I'm going to this year.

I'm not terribly familiar but I do like some of what I've heard, so I may do this. Didn't know they're touring and didn't know they were playing like 25 minutes away from me.

Saw them 5 times (85, 08, 09, 10 & 11) and missed Phil not being on stage the last time. But his replacement did well. Really hope Alves & Haze turn up at the Fillmore next year (40th Anniversary tour).

I don't fully appreciate Black Tiger and Earthshaker, because Meniketti's voice sounds too much like early Hagar to me on those albums.. I really like everything after Mean Streak (not that Black Tiger and Earthshaker arent good albums, just not my personal favorites in the Y&T discography).

I saw them on the Contagious and Ten tours in the 80s.. apparently Meniketti's one of those guys whose voice remains mostly intact after many years of touring, from the Youtube videos I've seen.

Oh yeah, he still has a very powerfiul voice. So much so that you forget sometimes what a great guitar player he is.

I was considering Primal Fear, but I don't know any of the support acts and it's 6 hours away from me. On the other hand, tickets are cheap and it's Primal Fear.

So far for sure

Metal Church
Dream Theater
Iced Earth/Sabaton
Ragnarokkr
PPusa all 4 days

These are all maybes.
M3
Children Of Bodom
Loudness
Y&T
Melodic Rock fest
Black Sabbath

I am also hoping that since Within Temptation is planning on doing a World Tour in 2014 that some dates in the U.S. will be announced for later in the year. I will definitely try my best to go to at least one show if they do, since I have never gotten to see them live.

OrionSon - I'm going to be in New Orleans Sunday-Thursday for work this coming week.. do you know of any good clubs that have live metal/hard rock near the French Quarter?

The only thing I'm aware of is Siberia, which plays mostly punk shows but every now and then a thrash or death metal band slips in.
