Just got back from the midnight showing, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time...my question ...was it intended to be funny? if it was it was brilliant ...if it wasn't it sucked... discuss

Yeah alot of its glory came from that catchphrase, and visual goodness.
Haven't seen, so can't make that judgement, but from what I have seen it didn't look like it was trying to be funny.

is it because they were only wearing briefs and capes?

that was part of why it was funny....who the fuck goes into battle wearing a red cape and a fucking speedo? ....the gay king of persia was ridiculously funny when he tried to give the king of sparta an erotic massage, the whole theater erupted in laughter

*feels good knowing how it ended in advance*

Saves me the trouble of having to sit through another awful movie.

Our audience didn't erupt in laughter during any of the ridiculous scenes... it was a buncha weird mormons (I happened to have to sit next to the fattest one of all, btw, who smelled like 'an anchovies cunt'). Think they were from some church escapade or something.

Either way, this adaptation of a Frank Miller Graphic Novel, unlike Sin City, not so well.

Its amusing for the ridiculous factor though, if you like going to the theater for laughing at cheesy shit.

the bloodshed and the beheadings were cool as hell, but the cheese was so fucking heavy I felt like I was engulfed in a prison of velveeta....

If you read the Graphic Novel, like I have, you'll enjoy the camera work and effects... very much like the Graphic Novel (Think thats in a contract for working on a Frank Miller movie adaptation, have to use the same style).

Its everything else that turns out to be a totally gay cheese fest.

Also, this had to be Gerard Butlers lamest performance ever. Even worse than in the 2005 Beowulf.

Yeah, some of the battle scenes were cool... but still they had a real provolone feeling to them, lingering from the rest of the scenes in the movie, and I just couldn't enjoy them so much as I would sit in my seat and laugh to myself as the people around me looked on.

yeah i felt like someone was slapping Kraft singles on my forehead at one point

So, we have the softcore gay porn with sauage, and the kraft singles. Anyone got any bread, we almost have a sandwich with this movie.

Hah, I giggled.

Most of the shit with The Queen was added by Zack Snyder... She wasn't really a lead character in the Graphic Novel. And you could tell Frank Miller hadn't been connected to the script writing process as much as he was with Sin City, since, sans the intro, it was almost entirely different from the graphic novel (Which woulda worked fine for a script, movie woulda probably been 20 minutes shorter too.

I'm enjoying how the IMDB rating is steadily falling as the night goes on. People coming home from the early showings with a "WTF" look on their faces and a "It was hillarious... but not what I went for, IMDB DOWNRATE!" attitude.
