5150 + Hot Plate + Engl impulses

Excellent tone and I love the writing and the performance as well!

I've gotta make some new impulses, it really seems like Altiverb is the best for this.

I'm out of the loop wat the hell are these Impulse things ppl are all raving on about?

Is it like a cab simulation or something?

Use the link below and read EVERYTHING. We don't mind answering questions man. But questions like this one have already been answered SEVERAL times. Those answers can be very detailed and sometimes complicated, so repeating them on a constant basis would not only hinder the search for new knowledge on this forum, but also drive some of the Veterans completely mad. Please check out the link, as I said. You should find everything there that you need to know. If not, try the Search function up top.

that FAQ just left me with more questions n like this :zombie:

Here's an idea! Why don't u instead of linking me to audio science just give me the gist of it with a simple answer, seeming how ur a "veteran" you should b capable of this!
e.g. it's a cab simulator......it makes the tone fatter....it makes the tone sound better by simulating something!

1 2 3 GO!

Dude, I don't mean to be a prick, but this question has been answered DOZENS of times, sometimes in-depth and sometimes in the simplest possible way. Just use the search function and I guarantee you will find everything you want to know about impulses. If not, THEN ask ahead. If you can't manage to be bothered to find something out, then you probably don't need to know.

EDIT: This got off the track again, so I must say I love the tone, Disconnekt! Fat as hell, good job.

First off- I didn't say that I was a veteran. If you look at my number of posts, you can easily see that. I was referring to guys like Oz and JBroll, who HAVE answered these questions a hundred times. I will not answer a question about impulses, because I do not have enough experience with them. I am still very old school. I mic up an amp and cab. Sometimes more than one, because we have multiple live rooms in which to do so. When I start getting more and more into doing shit at home, I'll look further into using Impulses. In conclusion... Use the Search function. You will find that everyone here can be very nice and extremely helpful, but they don't want to answer the same questions over and over again. Would you? Find out everything you can from the FAQ and Search function, and then, if you want to know something specific, like an application of some kind... ask away.

Sorry to everyone who's been waiting for impulses and such, I've been really busy house-hunting and with a bunch of other stuff and I haven't even touched my guitar/recording rig in a couple of weeks!

Thanks for the comments/compliments, though! If my life ever calms down a bit (i.e. maybe in August or September), I'll try to actually finish a song or two or three. :p

Plankis: room mic! Actually, I cheated. The only thing in the room mic is the snare (I love DFHS). I boost the high end on the snare top mic for a nice sharp attack and cut any lower midrange boxiness, and then I compress it with a quick but not too quick attack (10-20 ms, I think) for a nice pop before it clamps down. I mix in the bottom snare to taste for some sizzly wires (again boosting the highs and cutting boxy mids). Then comes the aforementioned room mic. This is where I get the nice midrange POW. I use little or no EQ on it, although I will tame any frequencies that are obnoxiously sticking out. Then I compress the shit out of it with a fast attack and medium-fast release so it almost sounds like a reverb. As far as actual reverb goes, I use very little on all 3 mics, just enough to get the direct mics to glue together with the very differently treated room mics. Almost all the ambience and aggressive midrange (the bulk of the snare's character, in other words) comes from the squashed room mic.
