So... how does 5ive compare to other HH bands? I've heard some good feedback about them but I dunno... I'm not much into Converge and Botch and all them, much prefer Cave In (early and new stuff), OMG, Isis and the likes, as well as some of the Plotkin-related ambient stuff. Anyone fancy 5ive?

i like 5ive and have two of their albums. one of the albums actually has a Plotkin remix on it. they're not much like Isis and Converge and the like--even denser, very instrumental, et cetera.

But do they play that stop-on-a-dime super technical and extra-boring type of HxC? Or are they more thought-out, introspective?

5ive is a bit closer to drone than hxc.

yeah, 5ive is more droney noise band than anything HCish. they're pretty tech tho, but, like, slow tech.
