Hi folks. I'm having a bit of an amp issue and I was wondering if I could get some advice.
I started really tearing into my 6505 in rehearsals and it's great but a lot of my songs require FX like reverb and chorus so I decided to dust off my old POD XT and use it just for FX.......only it sounds like shit.
I'm doing something wrong because the POD works fine and I've tried it on a friends 5150 II with the same result
I've turned off all the amp and cab emulation (cos I just want the FX) and set it for live use and I am taking a line from Send->pod input->pod left output->return.
When I click on the effects button on my 6505 pedal the volume drops a lot and it seems to be colouring the tone as well, especially in the distorted tone (clean isn't much better!) Note definition is crap and it sounds tinny.
I made a sort of improvement by turning on the tube pre amp setting on the pod and turning the master on the pod right up but it's still colouring the tone.
Do any of you guys use this setup? If so what's the best way to go about setting up to get nice clean FX! I tried going from the preamp out instead of the send but that nearly made the amp blow up for some reason (Not literally but it made a loud noise!)
Any help will be great, cheers!
