Just finished watching The Ring tonight, Lol. I know this is way off topic but what did you guys think of this movie? I thought it was great. I was told it was scary but didnt find it scary except for the end which was kinda creepy.

You are not the only one being a pussy. Saw that movie as well just recently and almost crapped my pants. That little girl is just horrofying. My friend next to me was really scared and couldn't catch his breath.

The Japanese original is far, far superior to that stupid Holly wood remake made for imbecilic audiences who can't read subtitles. Sorry to put a dampener on it.

Go and watch the Jap one, it's excellent. Creates a much better sense of tension.

the original is more artistic, and lends itself to repeat viewings because it doesnt readily explain a lot of things. The remake tried to make it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR about every little thing. And when you see how complex/varied the backstory is behind ringu, youll see why the american [ie==short attention span] version did that.

that said, the remake was actually good. The embellishments they added gave a different narrative approach, but there was nothing wrong with them. The original japanese ringu made lots of embellishments as well, compared with the original novel(s). And lets not forget Japan's own commercialization of "ringu" with the lesser ringu 2 and ringu 0.

That movie was one of the biggest pieces of junk I've ever seen. The plot holes were enormous, the explanations were few. It made me want to walk out of the theater and go do something else.

My girlfriend and I pretty much laughed ourselves silly throughout the entire movie, at basically everything... all the juniors in the front row who were screaming, the rediculous conclusions that the plot expected you to draw, the weak and hammy acting, the villain crawling out of the television (give me a break!)... and pretty much the entire reason for the movie in the first place.

The only thing I'll give the movie is that it had a respectable chilly atmosphere and a nice use of color throughout to convey coldness. Other than that... for me, a complete waste of time. And of course, it's my opinion. I just read so many people absolutely gushing about this turd that I had to respond.

I'm sure the Japanese original was better, but this movie spoiled me on any desire to see it. Maybe I'll try reading the novel to see if the ideas so poorly expressed in the film come across better in print.

Bleah.

Yeah I guess on the whole it was a bad movie, but that doesn't mean it didn't still make me shit my pants.
