I got some new preamps in the rack. 2 x Mackies Onyx800R and the Pre.
The Gold Channel preamps is sold.

Gomez is right. The Digi Pre's are ok, but the only advantage they really give you is the session recall function, which is cool, but not enough to justify the price tag over several other mic pre's available in the same range. I worked with the DigiPre at the old studio I worked at, they were clean, nothing to brag about. They got the job done. That said I ran mostly everything through other pre's my boss had like API, Grace Designs, Focusrite RED and ISA series, Mellinia, Vintech, Great River, Crane Song, and Avalon, to name a few.

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose. What control surface is that? It looks very neat.

The Digi Pre is ok. Sure theirs better preamps probably in the range but it sounds decent.

My major dislike was the one we had (maybe this was fixed on later models?) was when recording and say you needed to adjust the mic trim pot it made a clicking noise that would be recorded as audio on the audio track for some reason.

That control surface looks like a Digidesign Control series to me, 006. A post studio I did some work at had the same thing but 4 fader packs. That's just the Main Unit (or maybe it's called the Edit Pack, I can't rememeber) and 2 fader packs.
Pretty nice setup there though.

Ah, that was my first guess, for the control surface, but I wasn't sure. I've only ever used/seen in person the Control|24 and the ICON control surfaces. I like the Mackie Control Universal still though :). Ugh, I can't believe you are using those Genelec moni's...I hated them at the old studio. I preferred the 1031's and Mackie 824's over those little Gens. But I guess if they work for you... Cool studio.

How are you liking the Onyx pres? I forgot to ask in the first place, lol. I'm really interested in getting my boss to add an 800R to our arsenal, I hear they are really great pres but haven't had the chance to work with them personally. Thoughts?

Looks like resonators in the back of the mix room... could we get a close up of them?

yeah no problem! i´ll post some pix later ok? that room is awsome!! belive me. every bit of the room has its purpose. drums sounds gr8 at the back of the room, Vocals and piano in the middle, heavy guitars in the left corner, bass at the right corner, brass and other strings in the open area in front of the controlroom glass.
