A LIFE ONCE LOST, EPICUREAN, ION VEIN and ARISE AND RUIN COMPLETE LINEUP

That has nothing on Philly "Schuykill Punch". Drinking from a river with the word "kill" in it makes me a tad worried :p

To not add to the negativity, though i'm not a fan of any of those bands to say the least, wish the organizers luck and hopefully they make some hardcore profits to put into next year's addition.

Actually, I have a friend with tourette's too. And for her, it's nothing like the media would have everyone believe. In general, MOST people with Tourette's do NOT have uncontrolable outbursts of foul language. Most of them have physical tics. The uncontrolable outbursts of foul language occur in a very small percentage of people with Tourette's.

But I refuse to appologize. If others can get away with being raging assholes on this forum, I think you can all handle me being an outright bitch. :)

I agree. I have mild tourretes syndrome and it's nothing like the outburst's of profanity. It's fun to laugh at sometimes if I randomally make some noise or physical tick around my friends, it is what it is.

Although, the difference is that you're continuing to be a bitch, while EVERYONE else is making a sincere effort to change & be positive...even Diabolik believe it or not. Better late than never...but still an effort.

Honestly, since Monday night's blow out, I would actually say you've been worse than Diabolik. Quite the accomplishment actually! Now it's become clearer about how you feel about most people here (especially with your previous comment that "everyone" here jumps all over Power & Prog metal when you mention it, which is just plain wrong) & you obviously couldn't care less about our fest or this forum.

I know I may sound defensive, but as most people will agree...it's about time we took action against the negative atmosphere around here. Again, better late than never. And to help our fest grow in addition to just improving the lineup, we need to make our forum more welcoming to the legion of fans our fest will generate year after year.

There...I've said my peace. If you disagree, then please stop posting here. However, if you do agree, then we most certainly welcome & look forward to more positive posts from you. Your decision. Please don't make it mine.

I've been positive. I've been nice. I'm tired of being stepped on because my tastes vastly differ from others. You don't like my attitude? Your problem, not mine. No one else has gotten all upset with me over this. And I'm not going to avoid joking about things just because someone might get offended. If you don't like me being a bitch, feel free to go cry in a corner because I hurt your delicate sensibilities. :)

@Det Som: I'm glad to hear you can laugh about it. Sometimes that's the only thing anyone can do with a condition that is very, very hard to treat. I heard some people are able to supress their tics until they can get to a private place so they can relax and allow the tics to occur without public embarrassment. My friend has shoulder tics - it looks like she's shrugging all the time. When I first met her, I had no idea anything was up. Her tics were almost always visible during disucssion with her, so I just thought she was reacting or responding to whatever was going on in the conversation. When I noticed it happen a at times when she was just sitting quietly, I asked her if she was okay. That's when I learned she had Tourette's. When I told her what I had initially thought, she laughed.

I haven't been up to date on Tourette's news. Last I heard anything about it, there was no real way to treat it. Has modern medicine been able to come up with anything? I wonder if the tics may be tied in to stress, too. Like, the more stressed a person with Tourette's is, the more often and/or violent the tics are. If you don't mind me asking, what, if anything do you do for yourself, provided there's anything that can be done? Honestly, the last I heard anything about Tourette's in the media was...*thinks* High school, I believe. It's like it got real visible all of a sudden, and then people forgot about it.

I can control mine if I really don't want anyone to hear it. I usually don't care much though. I beleive it is stress related since I have severe general anxiety disorder. Most mine are physical for example right now I have to keep tensing up my right pinky and ring fingers and knuckles.. I also used to have one that was really bad, like a very high pitched almost squeel or whine noise that would come from above the roof of my mouth. So I told a friend of mine to punch me every time I did it and it eventually helped me get over it although talking about it makes me want to do it again.

But a friend of mine had much worse tourretes than I do a few years ago. Now his is gone, probably medication.

Hmm...Tourette's comorbid with GAD. That makes sense to me, that your GAD would make the Tourette's worse. And that's interesting that you were able to get rid of the whine by having someone punch you. A bit of classical conditioning, there. I wonder if other methods of classical conditioning have been used for treatment of Tourette's.

That's cool that your friend was able to have something work to remove (or at least supress) the Tourette's. Neurological-type issues are just plain wonkey as to whether or not meds will work with them, and what kind of meds will work. I think it must depend on the individual, too.

Thanks for sharing, and for answering my questions. Especially if it's a sensitive topic for you (and even if it's not.) Sometimes the best info comes from those that have firsthand experience. :)

Actually, it is your problem. Hope you enjoy your vacation. :Smug:

jeez, this place went to hell for a bit.

Seeing as how Iced Earth will be there and that they will have shortened tours, Im taking this chance to go at great expense.

I wish other bands were chosen though.
Avian
Suspyre
Dark Empire
Warbringer
Arsis
Bonded By Blood
Outworld
Circle II Circle
list goes on and on for me.

Arsis would be great, but unfortunately they've become a big risk...good chance of cancelling. We supposed to play with Exodus, but cancelled again. :(

Warbringer is also quite unavailable right now. :(

I know its probably pointless to ask and might cause bad blood, but why does saturday have 1 more band than friday?

Haha...actually, if you've ever had to drive around here during rush hour, you wouldn't be asking that.

We even considered only having 4 bands because of the traffic...plus because of the extended headliner set. ;) However, an opportunity presented itself with having that extra band, so we went with 5. ;)

good call. Traffic sucks in Chicago and the Chicagoland area. I was really lucky on the Therion show....it took me less than and hour to get to the Pearl Room from the way north side of Chicago and only 40 minutes to get home.
