is a great blend of jazz/classical music and metal, so I would take this one.

But as you don't have that much time you may take,

You could analyze the shit out of the solos in "Sea of Lies" with a jazz-based approach. Talk about which licks/scales/apreggios he plays over which chords - the solo makes a lot more sense when you check out these relationships.

Maybe he WANTS to do all SyX related music or music that is particularly neoclassical or prog/metal. It is his project and it seems he has already made up his mind as to the fact he wants to do all SyX related songs and that the third song he wants to probably be a more neoclassical style song. All he asked was what "SyX song" people thought he should use.

true. however, his classmates and professor are likely going to at the lack of diversity. it makes him look like a fanboy, regardless if the songs are great. unless of course the assignment is to pick a single band, and it obviously isn't since he has solo proj's listed.
