A THREAD WITH A CAPS-LOCKED TITLE

Here's a question - why is there even a caps-lock key on the keyboard? It doesn't really do anything useful. 99 percent of people never have a need to type anything in all caps, and 99 percent of those who do could easily use the shift key to achieve the same effect. The caps-lock key occupies a piece of prime keyboard real estate, one that could be better used for an actual useful function key. I'd wager that most people hit the caps-lock only when they fat-finger the shift key, and it only serves to disrupt the flow of their typing by causing them to have to delete several characters and turn the caps-lock off again, or by causing case-sensitive passwords to be rejected.
