? about Damnation

I finally picked the new disc and have been listening to it non-stop. In my listening I've noticed something a little odd.

On my copy, at the end of "Closure" (track 4) the music just cuts off, and goes into "Hope Leaves." It's noticeably abrupt, to the point where it makes me feel this wasn't intended.

I was just curious if this is how it's supposed to be or if my copy is some how defective. It's great album regardless.

Sorry if this topic has already been addressed. I searched through about three pages to see if anybody had talked about it. Thanks.

That would be dorky/lame. I don't like it when bands cut off song endings on purpose. Kinda like Type O Negative's "October Rust"...awesome album, but so few of the songs actually finish.

Its deliberate. Its almost like their saying, 'well...we're just exploring here, this isn't what we're about'.

Katatonia do it on their new album Viva Emptiness, Omerta just cuts into the downtuned riff intro of their last track.

Pull Me Under. Dream Theater actually cuts it pretty well when they play it live too.

Its bad mastering on Mr Wilsons front though. A song shouldn't start with sound heard at the end of the previous song, only if its like part of the next song or whatever.
In this case it is definately not part of Hope leaves and therefore is a mistake in the mastering process.

Slayer did it too on Raining Blood - the song just stops and the thunder and rain sounds start.

i dont have a problem with it. on closure its nowhere near as bad, cause it cuts off at the end of a bar, and hope leaves starts with the right timing. its not as tho it cuts off half way through a bar or something.
