Accomodation in Melbourne

Hey guys, I'm seeking a bit of advice. I'll be heading south to catch multiple shows when Edguy are here, and I'd like to know if anyone can recommend me a reasonable (and not too expensive) place to park my arse when I'm in Melbourne I've got totally no idea about Melbourne at all, so somewhere sort of close to the Espy if possible - anything which reduces my chances of getting horribly lost is good.

I know nothing about St Kilda. I'd imagine a room at the Espy itself would probably be hard to get.

Yeah I don't know much about this sort of thing either, I will be lucky if I get to the venue without getting lost myself.

Blitzy, don't you live in Melbourne? I've only been there twice and I could find my way to the Espy.

Nah I am from Bendigo, though I have been to the Espy a few times before.

Pfft. Bendigo isn't that far from Melbourne. You could walk there if you tried.

It is about an hour and a half from the city, which is quicker than some suburbs I guess.

Yes I thoroughly endorse wotif. Have used it many a time on trips to Melbourne. Have even used it to book places in St. Kilda for the same reason.

Also... if you need to get to and from the airport Melbourne have the wonderful SkyBus. For about $13 (I think) it'll take you from the airport to Spencer St Station and then you get on a minibus that'll take you to your hotel. Much cheaper than the $40 taxi fare from the airport to St. Kilda.

It's $17 I believe. Between 4 people, the cab idea worked out better when I was down a while ago but if you're travelling by yourself, definitely the SkyBus!
