Hey guys I have two electrics and a really shit-arse "Magnum" acoustic which my parents bought second hand and I've had for six years... I think it's time for a new acoustic guitar. Does anybody know what kind of acoustic Mike uses primarily? I'm after one that plays really well (something I hate about a lot of crap acoustics is they're just plain difficult to play) and one that has a nice sound. Not too picky. Suggestions?

Oh yeah, preferably one that's also not going to cost me an arm and a leg... say on more than maybe like $600 US...

Well, unfortunately...the guitars mikael uses are gonna run you quite a bit more than $600....for the Martin acoustics anyway.

He did used to use a seagul S6 i beleive...which should only cost $300 tops? and from my understanding are fairly decent sounding. Other than that, i recommend trying a takamine.

Try Takamine and Ovations. If not there is one Martin acoustic that I want to buy, it is only about 700, and you could probably get them to bring it down to your price, it's their lowest model of solid tops, it plays and sounds really awesome, it's probably what I will be getting in the very near future.

I bought a new acoustic some time ago. I had tried two guitars that I really liked, one was the Seagull, similar to what Mikael uses, and a Stagg. The Seagull was secondhand, and had quite some nasty damage on the body, but it sounded really nice. The Stagg was new, all-solid, a somewhat less dark sound, a bit brighter. The Stagg also sounded really good. They both priced at about €350 (about $415). I took the Stagg, and I didn't regret it.

You cant go wrong with an Ovation or (if you want go pay less money) the Ibanez acoustic guitars with piezzo (GA40CE for example). Low price, awesome guitar.

Martins are great, but expensive.

I've been borrowing some Guilds and Fenders and they can do the job pretty much.
I think Taylor is ok (I'm pretty sure Gilmour plays it), but know shit about the price.
I haven't tried Ovations, nor Takamines, so can't say a thing 'bout 'em.

Good luck! No guitar sounds better than the acoustic1!

Dean guitars sound nice. Like for me I bought a Dean Exotica FM GN n' the body is all maple so it has a bright sound to it...You can actually see the grain of the wood too *I think thats cool*...anyhoo it has mahogany neck, grover tuners...its a pretty guitar. But yeah...maybe check out some Dean guitars...and I don't think they run up too high *in price*
and hey I have a question for acoustics- what kind of wood will give me more of a mellow/darker/warmer sound? I heard mahogany and ceder...are there any others?
