Agggghhhhhh!!!!!! MEGADETH!!!!!!!!!!!

All I've got is this cd-r, and track 3 (The System Has Failed) is THE FUCKING SHIT. This album is absolutely in my Top 10 at the moment. Pure fucking bow down worship. I'm air drumming with wild abandon, fuckin bangin my head wishing I had my long hair back right now.

Having said that, I think the remix/remasters are ultra gay. When it comes to Megadeth, I want the unremastered original mix!

:kickass:

I'm telling you, this is a wild comeback. The only thing I find surprising is that people are still saying, "well, it's not as good as Rust in Peace"...no shit! WTF is?

That said, I always feel disappointed each time Maiden fail to make Powerslave II. :loco:

Track 3 is called "Kick the Chair" (according to CDUniverse tracklisting). It's like something that fell out of the Rust in Peace / Countdown to Extinction sessions.

Here is that tracklist in case you're interested:

1. Blackmail the Universe
2. Die Dead Enough
3. Kick the Chair
4. The Scorpion (I friggin' love this, you know it'll be on the radio, heh)
5. Tears in a Vial
6. I Know Jack
7. Back in the Day
8. Something That I'm Not
9. Truth be Told
10. Of Mice and Men
11. Shadow of Death
12. My Kingdom Come

Well, I would have been interested to hear the remastering jobs for both Killing is my Business and So Far So Good So What.

Apparently, KimBaBiG sounds awesome now. SFSGSW on the other hand has got mixed reviews because Mustaine took out the chorus FX on all the rhythm guitars, which are so prominent on the original, and some people like it, others not so much. Don't know about the others, but I'm curious to hear that bonus track on Rust in Peace.

I'm probably the only one who liked the original SFSGSW sound -- that tinny, hollow, flanged riffing. :heh:

RIP is better than I remember, yeah, but best album ever? Not even close.

Holy Wars is the shiznit though.

I think I'm the only person that actually enjoyed Youthanasia.

Well, he completely fucked Cryptic Writings all to hell, in my book.

I wouldn't have thought that needed any remastering at all. Actually, as far as I can remember, anything post RiP sounds perfectly fine to me (production wise).

Quick question: Did you ever hear any of the Iced Earth remasters? If there is one that I really want, it's Burnt Offerings.

Yeah, I heard one or two. They're ok, I'm just fucking over pre-Ripper Iced Earth.

And with Cryptic he re-mixed, added some different guitar in parts and whatnot, and he should've left it well alone.

And J., I like Youthanasia quite a bit! The title track especially. "We've been left out to dry..." Yeah!!

I'd love to buy the remastered Killing Is My Business... but it's like 16 quid :( having said that, I just remembered I have a job AND I got paid yesterday so that's not really an excuse any more :loco:

10 days til the new one...I'm getting quite excited and I've never even been a big Megadeth fan

THe Killing is MY business remaster is excellent. The first thing one notices is just how good a drummer Gar Samuelson was. The cover of my boots are made for walking is a bit annoying with all the bleeps.

I love Youthanasia. I even like Cryptic Writings.

Cool. It's just that every time I see it mentioned around here, people are ripping it up, saying shit like Cryptic Writings is better, which I didn't like at all really.

Train of COnsequences, Reckoning Day an Victory were cool I thought.

Hmm, not really. Well, not in my case anyway. Let me explain (off the top of my head):

Rust in Peace: 10/10
Peace Sells...: 9.5/10
So Far So Good So What: 9.25/10
Countdown to Extinction: 9/10
The System Has Failed: 8.5/10
Cryptic Writings: 8.25/10
Killing is my Business: 8.25/10
Youthanasia: 8/10
Risk: 4.5/10
The World is Not Enough: 3/10

8/10 'aint ripping it up exactly, but it is their 8th best album if you see what I mean, heh.

Or something like that.

Youthanasia also contains an absolutely legendary Friedman solo on "Family Tree". And of course, "Reckoning Day" could be the third best show opener after "Holy Wars" and "Wake up Dead".

Hey I can play the numbers game! ;)

Rust in Peace 10/10 (Best. Metal. EVAR.)
Peace Sells... 9/10 (if I gave decimal scores this would be 9.9999999999/10)
Countdown to Extinction 9/10
Killing is My Business 8/10
Cryptic Writings 7/10
Youthanasia 7/10 (I love the title track and Reckoning Day)
So Far So Good So What 5/10
Risk 4/10 (only listened to once)
The World Needs a Hero 3/10 (only listened to portions of a few songs :yuk: )

Have only heard a few songs from the new one, if it's consistent it looks like an 8/10 album.

For me, yeah, I'd say RIP is their strongest overall album, but unlike most of you, it's hardly even close to best album ever. Don't know, it just doesn't pack a lot of emotion. Dave's vocals just don't do it for me. Holy Wars is quite good, but Dawn Patrol, Take No Prisoners and Poison was the Cure are just filler.

Lets see, here my ranking minus ratings:

RIP
Youthanasia
Peace Sells
Countdown
So Far, So Good
Cryptic Writings
Risk

Ive always preferred Peace Sells, I think its their best album and one of the best thrash albums ever. I hate ranking these things, so lets just say I listen to Peace Sell, So Far, and Rust in Peace the most, Risk and The World needs a hero the least.

Are there any redeeming factors about Risk? If I had to choose something, I would say "Time: The Beginning" and "Time: The End". The latter especially is probably something a bit more traditional 'Deth.

wow I didnt think you guys would like The system has failed.
I think dave did a pretty damn good job this time around.
I do like youth but the new one is better IMO.
Just cant wait to see them live finally.
