Agggghhhhhh!!!!!! MEGADETH!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes ONCE, I just bought it an hour and a half ago. :p

Second time through it's better, but a few moments are real stinkers. Looks like a 7/10 album, but for Megadeth that means several killer songs. They never were a full-album band, except Rust in Peace. Even Peace Sells had I Ain't Superstitious which kills the vibe a bit.

Oh excuse me, I thought you got it the day it came out!

Yes, Megadeth always have a few stinkers. It's in Mustaine's nature. Like you say, only RiP gets a 10/10.

Honestly though, give it a few spins and the good ones get better, the bad ones become approachable. I'd give it higher than a 7/10 myself, maybe an 8/10.

Insane you both are, easily one of my happiest purchases this year.

Of Mice and Men is fucking awesome I say. Simple, catchy, awesome chorus. Lyrics autobiographical, good stuff.

Yeah, it's a tad cheesy in all that nostalgia, but I LOVE the similarly themed "Back in the Day". Those lyrics hit home somewhat.

So what would you score it Papa?

I wouldn't say Megadeth were never a full album band as they have been able to craft albums that are pretty much consistent from beginning to end, although the ones that are the least erratic (CTE & Youth) are also the ones that come closest to following a formula. RIP, of course, is something entirely different, an album whose perfection eliminates any minor complaints about the flow of songs...

PS The sentimental tone of Of Mice & Men doesn't work for me and it's one of the weaker songs on the album, but I do find myself singing along with the chorus...

methinks this calls for a comparative review from all us staffers who have been jamming this album lately.

thats what me thinks, what you thinks? have many different reviews, from our different perspectives...

For all those who did not yet hear this ... the full album is up on www.VH1.com for your listening pleasure !!!

AND FOR THOSE THAT HAVE THE PROMO ... sounds like things have been added and remixed. I am listening to the first track and there is a major differrence to my ears ... or maybe I am just tired.
Are there differences? I have only heard the promo so far.

I think Back in the Day's riff is almost Maiden like. Kind of a Flash of the Blade type thing. Good song.

I'll tell you what the intro reminds me of: it's "Back in the Village" meets "Liar" from So Far So Good So What...

EDIT: And no, I don't hear any differences with the promo.

Hotdog: needs ketchup.

Hotdog on a bun: needs ketchup, relish, mustard, onion, mayo, and sometimes cheese.

Mustard, chili, cheese, sometimes relish, maybe some jalapenos. But fuck ketchup or mayo on a hot dog. Ketchup is for fries. Same thing with burgers, mustard. And I don't like these fancy shmancy mustards that taste like funkdafied ass. Give me some Plochmans (gotta love that name) or French's anyday.

BLACK. BEEF. OF VENGEANCE.

Chili dogs are good about once a year. Lots of cheese and a fork please.

Geez...I hate waiting 10 minutes for a thread to open, thinking some omg discussion about megadeth and metal....and then it's just chit chat about junk food. You're all a bunch of dirty spooks.

I'm starting to really like this new Megadeth. The first four songs are extraordinary and the rest are getting better.

Because I'm a stoner and can't remember who said it and where, I remember someone talking shit about "Return To Hangar" and I'm wondering why. In fact, if anything I have been listening to The World Needs a Hero quite a bit lately.

And Pitrelli handles those Friedman solos rather well on the Rude Awakening dvd... Fuck, the guy had to fill the shoes of Criss Oliva, he better be pretty damn good.
