AHHHHH FUCK YES! FINALLY!

I think Watershed is definitely different from the rest of their material, but still a very good record. There's a noticeable decline in the amount of growls compared with the clean singing, but with the exception of the flawed Porcelain Heart, I fucking love every single song off it.

What saddens me more than the decline in growls is the decline in Mikael Åkerfeldt's ability to pull them off. If any of you has ever watched their latest DVD or seen them live, you probably noticed that his low growls have been sounding weird and distracting lately.

Anyways I'm looking forward to hearing what Opeth pulls off next. This ever-changing band has never failed to surprise and impress me.

BWP and Damnation are the last ones I liked.

I don't know how you guys still dig this band. It's become Mikaels personal little progressive fuck around, it isn't Opeth anymore.
Opeth has always been Mikael's personal little progressive fuck around

I fucking loved Watershed.

Jens Bogren AND Steven Wilson is a dream come true. My pants are getting tight.

^This!

Fuck the haters, Watershed was an excellent album and everything Opeth has ever done has never been a let-down. And with Steven Wilson having a hand in the production of this album, I know this upcoming album will be different and interesting. Most people like bands to adhere to one sound for the entirety of their career. I too like the sense of familiarity, but I also love the feeling you get when you listen to a new record of your favourite band a get goosebumps thinking, "That sounded different and weird, but I think I might like it." It is a like a pleasant sense of being uncomfortable.
