Here's the thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/audioengine...mailed_alan_moulder_a_while_ago_asked_how_he/

Nothing most of us didn't know already, but pretty neat to hear it from the source.

Yes! That is heaps cool! Thanks for sharing!

He is one lucky bastard to have the privilege to record Josh Freese on drums.

Every now and then Slate drops some #protips on his twitter feed, and one of them was to get more high end in the snare, it's easier to get it by running a hi shelf on the overheads, just as in this email.

Interesting tips on the low end. I'm going to try boost the room mice a few dB on the chorus in my next mix, and see how that turns out.

Awesome!! You know, for whatever reason, I never thought about removing some low end before the mix bus compressor....makes soooo much sense!

He's talking about side-chaining it with a hi-pass so the compressor doesn't react to the low frequency build up. Sounds like you might be talking about just taking low end out of the whole mix, which is probably not what you want to do.

God that APC record sounds awesome. Interesting to hear he blended some samples in the kick and snare. Even the mighty Josh Freese needs some help now and again eh….
