Reminding myself why this is the best Manilla Road album they've done since Mystification.

I personally think Gates of Fire and Spiral Castle are better albums.

I've never seen anyone else express this opinion but I find Open the Gates to be their best album. To me, the more "interesting" drumming than on Crystal Logic and the heavyness just all come together as one big metal jizz fest. It's awesome. I didn't always like it that much, but after a lot of repeated listens, which occurred due to me loving the overall sound on that album, it is in fact awesome.

Fight Well in Hell! Open the Gates!
I like Manilla Road but I find their music to be hit or miss. On Open the gates the title track is great as well as The Ninth Wave, Hour of the Dragon and Witches Brew, but I really don't care for the rest of the album. I need to buy a few more of their albums.

This is a fun album to listen to.
