The Melvins are a very acquired taste....I'd say Stoner Witch and Houdini are the closest they get to "mainstream" type sounds. I have 9 or so discs from them, and each has some cool stuff on it, but there's tons of filler and noise type stuff on their elbum. Check out Eggnog for older stuff, and A Senile Animal for newer.
