Albums currently kicking your ass

That first Sisters of Mercy album is one of the most embarrassing things to say I once tried enjoying. Floodland and the last one are OK, but fuck that one is cringeworthy. Some of the worst singing I've ever heard too. Seeing metal people always get their dick up to them was the first thing that made me realize metal people have shit taste in non-metal.

I was gonna respond to this, but it seems people already have. All I will say is: it's your loss.

Christian Death are awesome. The Birthday Party are phenomenal as well. I love both Unknown Pleasures and Closer by Joy Division. Pornography by The Cure is top shelf. I didn't hear anybody mention Bauhaus or The Fields of the Nephilim though. Both quality acts.

The Sky's Gone Out is one of my favorite gothic records. Side B is like watching a dying brain misfire random memories. Siouxsie and the Banshees are also excellent, with Juju being their best work.

If I still listened to all the stuff I tried forcing myself to enjoy a decade ago because other metal people did, I'd be listening to...

The Cure
Dead Can Dance
Death in June
Depeche Mode
Joy Division
Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson
Sigur Ros
The Sisters of Mercy
The Smiths
Swans (post-Children of God)

Fuck you.

I hate people who think that if they don't like something, it's automatically bad. You can not like something and still admit that it's quality.

That's pretty much how it works tho.

Currently listening to this goth rock-destroying masterpiece:

In other words, my life would suck. Granted, I probably wouldn't have gotten into prog rock or "artsy" pop like Bjork and Kate Bush as quickly if they weren't popular among metal peeps as well.

HB Facepalm Count: 2.

Pretty sure this isnt the argue about goth rock thread you faggots.

And just for cry baby Ozz, this is

Nocternity - Harps of the Ancient Temples.

I'm actually interested to hear that. I watched a bunch of documentaries and interviews with Dahmer recently. Certainly one of the most messed up serial killers ever. Not that I expect to a new insight into him from a death metal/grindcore act, but still, the concept is interesting and fitting.

Just loving this album and hoping their others are of a similar caliber.
