Albums currently kicking your ass

Like an Everflowing Stream is definitely better than anything by Entombed, but I don't love it nearly as much as most other death metal fanatics.

I'll take The Red in the Sky is Ours, Beyond Sanctorum, The Ending Quest, The Nocturnal Silence and The Winterlong over it.

I prefer Clandestine.

Black Sabbath or Iron Man?

It's about even actually, Iron Man happen to be one of my favourites.

Entrails or Entombed?

Entombed more for me, but they only really have two albums I like whereas Entrails have nothing but cool albums with no sign of turning to shit, sometimes I'm a quantity > quality guy, if the quality itself is pretty good.

Metallica or Evile?

Neither really, I love Metallica's first two, but the rest along with the entirety of Evile's stuff doesn't do anything for me. I enjoy Master Of Puppets when in certain moods too.

Yes, they deserve to be listened to ... at least once, or else how can one even have an opinion, right?

I mean, which bands are you going to be spending more time listening to?? Entrails or Entombed? Metallica or Evile? Black Sabbath or Iron Man? *edit, not saying any of these bands suck*

Honestly Entrails. Some of Entombed is good but it's not the style of OSDM that sticks with me like say a Death or Obituary or Atheist.

Evile is not a fair comparison to Metallica lol. I've played out Metallica to the point that I know every note that's coming next so they rarely get played anymore... but I'd say Warbringer over Evile.

Black Sabbath always.

But Warbrginer don't share as many similarities with Metallica, that's why i brought up Evile. Warbringer are one of my favorite modern thrash bands ... would never hate on them.

edit: So you prefer "Floridian" OSDM to Swedish death metal. As much as people love old school Swedish DM, i dont think anyone here would disagree with you on that.

Two of my favourite Swedeath albums are Pure Slaughter by Axis Powers and Raped In Their Own Blood by Vomitory. I need to listen to them more often though, for some reason I haven't been listening to much death metal.

Also, some people mentioned Dark Recollections before, that's definitely up there for me!

Definitely prefer Of Darkness too. Which do people here prefer by Tiamat, debut or sophomore?

Yeah Florida OSDM is my favorite. Skeletal Remains is my favorite modern OSDM band for that reason, they really capture the sound. Rude does a solid job with it also.

I see Warbringer as what Metallica could have been if they kept going down the path of Kill 'Em All, and like Fight Fire with Fire and Battery. Don't get me wrong RtL is one of my favorite albums of all time, but it's not as warlike and angry as say Warbringer. Metallica's more melodic you're right. I still don't think Evile is a fair comparison to Metallica, they're not as good for one lol, or as anything. Thrasher is a good song I guess.

Yup, none of their albums are.

Lol, that is the reason i brought up Evile, i was trying to do a comparison of bands that are clear knock-offs and nowhere near as good as the original bands. I don't think Warbringer would have fit there.

Wildhoney honestly, but from their death metal era if memory serves, The Astral Sleep.

Huh, Wildhoney? Shit I should give it a listen then.

Anyway, discussion inspired me to smash this album out.
