After a longer pause, I've recently listened to it twice. If all songs were as strong as the concept part and the final song, it would probably be my favourite Helstar-album. Still it's close to a draw between this and its two predecessors for me.![]()
Easily one of my favorite '80s albums. When I heard it for the first time, it was downright addicting.
Yeah, Harsh Reality and Swirling Madness are a bit underwhelming for me compared to the first six tracks. Benediction, Von am Lebem Desto Strum and Aieliaria and Everonn get pretty close though. If all songs were as strong as the concept part and the final song, it would probably be my favourite Helstar-album.
I'm still wondering what this pseudo-German title was actually supposed to mean.Von am Lebem Desto Strum
The last Helstar-album I bought was "Multiples of Black" and I didn't like it. I read some positive reviews about their later albums, but refrained from buying them. Even though I still appreciate the music on "Remnants of War", "A Distant Thunder" and "Nosferatu", I listen to them only on rare occasions nowadays, thus I'm afraid that even if these albums should be as good as the old ones, they wouldn't get many spins from me.i wish the new helstar had rivera in his prime. it's a good album that every fan should check out, but he's showing his age.
Maybe I should listen to it on youtube, though listening to music on my notebook (which I usually don't do) is very different from listening to music on my stereo system (which I usually do).that's fair. it may be as good as REMNANTS i think, or close anyway.
You have to admit that his vocals have aged extremely well compared to most. I saw a performance they did last year in Falls Church, VA and he sounded fantastic for the most part.i wish the new helstar had rivera in his prime. it's a good album that every fan should check out, but he's showing his age.

Southern/groove metal at its best.
