Not sure why I didnt get this one sooner. The best finnish doom since the Reverend. Of course they arent as good but thats a fucking tough act to follow. Great band anyway.

Nah, that's Fall of the Idols! Cardinals Folly is quite good though. Have you heard their latest split? It's with a friend of mine's band, Acolytes of Moros.

I much prefer the previous two albums over Warp Riders but I definitely agree that it was their last good album.

Immortal - Pure Holocaust

Why is this album so far ahead of their other output? They never came close to the mastery of Pure Holocaust before or after. Despite what some people would have you believe, At the Heart of Winter is not even close to being as good as this, nevermind being better. "Unsilent Storms in the North Abyss", "As the Eternity Opens" and "The Sun No Longer Rises" are epic.

Also, the live videos I've heard on YouTube of tracks from this album sound absolutely crap. The production is a huge part of why this album is so successful.

It's still my favorite because it just sounds like their most focused effort to me. I love their other albums like At the Heart of Winter, Sons of Northern Darkness and Battles in the North but there are still some slight flaws with those where as Pure Holocaust isn't hindered by them.

Also, you forgot to mention Frozen by Icewinds. That track slays.

Of course it slays, its on Pure Holocaust! Every track is awesome, but the 3 I listed are the peaks for me.

I don't really like any other Immortal album except the debut tbh.
