Albums currently kicking your ass

News to me that I don't like Thin Lizzy either.

Though admittedly I basically never listen to live albums. I think that particular one I have listened to once or twice when I first discovered the band and still used to listen to live albums, or maybe not I dunno, but that's a pretty widely-acclaimed live album afaik, at least as much as something like Unleashed in the East if not even more so.

More live DVDs of 1980s concerts by cult bands need to come out. I watch those all the time.

It's not hate for me, it's just an autistic need to be consistent in my listening, and if I listen to a live album that contains 80% of the tracks of studio album X, then it feels like I'm overplaying those 80%/underplaying the other 20%.

I make some exceptions though. Baloff-era Exodus bootlegs are one, Beast Over Hammersmith is another.

I like live soul/funk/gospel records, the energy really comes across well and the way they improvise within that kind of genre rules. I love hearing James Brown go apeshit and turn a 3 minute song into a 12 minute sweaty jam where he screams "yeah, uh!" over and over. Fucking amazing.

Oh and Hendrix.

Funk live albums often leave me underwhelmed, but sure yeah outside of rock music obviously jazz excels in the live format as well.

While I think that it's very possible that The Wizar'd/Tarot members are involved in Black Magick SS, I also feel that the members of Doomed Beast may be the culprits. Have you heard that band?

It's about time for a new release from these guys. MA says theyre still together...

I keep in frequent contact with Will and last time The Wizar'd came up he did say that there was material to be finalized and released, that was probably a little over a year ago. Supposedly the next thing they plan to release is a 7" EP.
