I don't agree that brutal death metal can't be high art. At its best (i.e. None so Vile) it plays with the contrasting poles of catharsis (murderer and murdered) triggering the adrenaline of both predator and prey. It can be a pathway to explore some of our most powerful and primal biological drives. Then you have works like Mortal Throne of the Nazarene who invert the very idea of transcendence by subsuming spirituality to the dismemberment of the body and the decay of flesh.

I preferred it over the debut but I'm not a huge Warrel Dane fan already.
