Albums currently kicking your ass

What else is worthy from the early Czech scene? I'm only familiar with Master's Hammer, Root, Maniac Butcher and maybe a few others I can't think of right now.

Amon/Amon Goeth released some great stuff. This is undeniable imo.

Avenger are an underrated band too, especially Fall of Devotion, Wrath and Blasphemy.

Tudor and Törr are both worth checking out as well, although material by the latter isn't easy to come across. NWN did a good reissue of the Tudor demos which should be easy enough to find.

So long ago! So looooong agooooo!

Awsome album! How are their two latest? I have a feeling they will be letdowns so I haven't really bothered yet.

Edit: Talking about WHW here.

Their latest is terrible. The one before it is okay but still not great. Vast Oceans looks like it was somehow their peak and demise.

This has been in the car all week. I was going through the CD's looking for something I haven't listened to in a while and came across this. So I threw in the disc player, turned the bass up and let er rip. I know a lot of people say Trent just aped Skinny Puppy and Ministry but fuck that noise. This shit was brilliant.

I enjoy Don't Break the Oath quite a bit, but it's nowhere near the level of Melissa for me. In fact , I will never understand people that hold the opinion DBtO is a better album.

It is super close for both those albums. The reason I prefer DBTO is because that's one of the first extreme metal albums I bought. I still own that exact copy too so it's nostalgia and sentiment for me. I also didn't really like it at the time because of King's vocals but now I fucking love it.

Melissa is definitely the better of the two, but Don't Break the Oath is one of the most satisfactory albums when it comes to blending wild spirit and mature restraint. The Mercyful Fate EP will always be my favorite release by them.
