Is it, though? Engram is pretty much black metal perfection. It's far more mature and intelligent than DDTM, but I suppose that could be a criticism. If all you want from Beherit is their older stuff, then yeah.

I like Engram quite much, and I'm not really a fan of OOBB so it isn't that. But DDTM has a special atmosphere that is so weird and cool and I just love it. It is one of the first albums that made me open my eyes to other bm than norwegian too, so nostalgia probably plays sone parts in my opinion though.

I wish this album was available with the original artwork for a reasonable price, the reissue is perfectly fine but it got nothing on this.

lol, I never noticed that face in the background. I was going to agree with you before that. Awesome album either way, the first side especially is perfect, some of the heaviest trad around, especially for the time.

Maybe give Surgical Steel another spin, I don't deny debut's significance and influence but it's just inferior to their most recent one.

Nah. Surgical Steel is a continuation of Carcass' melodic death metal which I was never a fan of to begin with. I'm goregrind all the way.

Swansong kills Surgical Steel. I wasn't impressed by it. It's like Carcass wanted to make Heartwork 2 and just couldn't get the hooks that Heartwork had. At least Swansong is catchy.

Eh I liked Surgical Steel quite a bit when it came out. Kinda overplayed it tbh. All Carcass is good Carcass.
