Re: the Swedish death metal convo on the last page
Dismember's debut is untouchable when it comes to the typical Swedish sound. I love that Gorement album but it doesn't even approach Like An Everflowing Stream's level of consistency, quality of riffs, melody, etc.
TDNH grew a ton on me recently, and Leave Scars has been following suit. Some of those songs are so fucking brutal, and the topsy-turvy riff-salad approach in some of the song arrangements almost sound proto-NYDM in a way. Rinehart sounds mean as shit too. I feel bad for hating those albums when I first heard them.
French prog/thrash, more prog than thrash. Has that kind of dry DIY production a lot of prog metal bands did in the late 90s/early 2000s, which used to be a big turn-off, but I can tolerate it now.
Not sure why I didnt get this one sooner. The best finnish doom since the Reverend. Of course they arent as good but thats a fucking tough act to follow. Great band anyway.
I also grabbed this for cheap and I'm surprised to say its pretty bad ass too. I thought I was getting the Hell's Headbangers version and instead got a japanese version with OBI. Was Hobbs always so black metal tinged? I know they've always been Slayer as fuck but didnt remember the bm influence. Probably because I dont own either album before this one.
