Minas Tirith, or some other mountain
What high-profile releases have come out in the past several months or so?

What killer underground stuff has come out? I'm out of the loop so I figured I'd just ask around here. I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look for it. Danke schoen.

Cult of Luna
Isis
Demonoid
YOB
Rotting Christ
Vader
Pig Destroyer
Mastodon
Neurosis
Vehemence

Meshuggah's I

Im thinking over the summer too. And I am too lazy to remember titles. Someone else can fill you in on them.

Hate Forest - Battlefields
Void of Silence - Human Antithesis
Red Harvest - Internal Punishment Programs

Forgetting stuff I'm sure...but yeah, feel free to check the webzine.

I've been checking the 'zine, it's really well done btw.

I don't know half those bands at all and my guess is they're not at all easy to find, well maybe not some of them. I have some of those discs as well (Iced Earth, Into Eternity, maybe some others).

JayKeeley: was it you who wrote the Jag Panzer review? It made me seriously want that album and I hate that band. Is it REALLY worth getting?

Also, anyone heard the new Amon Amarth yet? How about Angra, Rhapsody, Ensiferum or Wintersun? Isn't there supposed to be a new Testament album too?

I completely forgot there was a semi-new Vehemence album out. ooops.

As far as Amon Amarth and Ensiferum, you're probably better off getting older material from both bands.

Really? I'd heard good things about both. I have all the Amon albums to date, and the Ensiferum s/t one, and they rule my face, but haven't gotten around to picking up the new ones from each. What about Wintersun? I read that it's the project from the guy who left Ensiferum.

The Wintersun album is good. If you like the other Amon Amarth then you'll like this one. The only Testament release I've heard about is a greatest hits thing.

Im actually a big fan of Fate or Norns. It has a cool melancholy feel to it. Anyway... notable releases-

Autumn Aurora
Fate of Norns
Isis
The Focusing Blur
The System Has Failed
White 2

etc.

Fate of Norns has left zero impression on me. I'll always prefer the early stuff.

Isis - Panopticon is now leading the Album of the Year sweepstakes

It just seems like they've finally understood what makes a song memorable, as opposed to just playing all the same riffs without any thought for cohesive songwriting. The biggest problem I've always had with JP is that all their shit sounds the same at the end of the day. Try to find samples of the new one perhaps - this is remarkably better/different than before, but it's still got the Jag Panzer trademarks, so don't go in blind if you completely dislike their previous efforts.

I need to hear the new Esoteric. Someone hook a brutha up.

Also, please explain what this new Astrofaes release is? I thought it was a re-release of old material? Is this brand new material? If so, where can I find it post haste?

And shit, I forgot all about Morgion....haven't heard that in months. Must pull it off the shelf.....
