Another one some people might like. Not heavy at all, but I'm obsessed with them at the moment. Randomly picked this cd up at the record shop, listened and fell in love. Much like Opeth's Damnation. Sad, mostly acoustic and effing brilliant.

Artist: Midlake
Album: The Courage of Others
Year: 2009
Genre: Folk I guess?
Recommended If You Like: Opeth's soft stuff (damnation) Jim Croce. Anything sad played with acoustic guitars.
Sample Song: Acts of Man

Thankyou for this. You're right with the Damnation reference. One of my favourite albums by the way.

:kickass: I absolutely love Fair To Midland! I actually just saw them in concert last week with Periphery and Scale The Summit. Scale the summit was ok, Periphery was ok (band was good, but Spencer sucked live as usual), but Fair To Midland was absolutely amazing! They are a great studio band as well as live... so fucking heavy live! Tons of bass.

So much brilliance in this thread. I've been in little lull with finding new music lately, this may have just kicked me out of it. That God is an Astronaut stuff is stellar.

Pretty damn amazing music if you ask me. 2 people in the group. Quote from Wikipedia:

"In particular, the group's music has been used in trailers for such films as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Star Trek, The Dark Knight, 2012, X-Men: The Last Stand, Tron Legacy, Avatar, Prince of Persia, Stardust, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Inception and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as well as video games, and the British television show Doctor Who."

They even used some for Killzone 3 and Mass Effect 2 :)

But they don't have all their albums commercially available though :(

Other songs to check out: Call To Arms, Flameheart, Dragon Rider, ASAP, Heart Of Courage, What's Happening To Me etc
