Alexi Laiho's Legendary Licks (Paperback)

That's entirely true. Is it weird that I just generalize and say that I like Scandanavian Metal? I can't count the number of times I've said, "Hey this is cool. Where is this band from? Just from the sound I bet they're from.. Yup... Finland." Sweden is pretty frequent, too. But american bands that I like that much are few and far between.

dude, I completely agree. Every time I talk about metal, and someone asks what type of metal I like, I reply, "Basically Scandinavian metal". Anyways, you're not alone. We generalize for good reason.

Quoted for Truth. Too bad most of the good european bands are turning Americanized thought. :(

Skyfire & Wintersun still keeping it real though

I just say German guys cuz a couple of my ex's are German, and uhm, they're the best guys I've experienced, like personality-wise, looks-wise, and yeah :p. and I am currently seeing one now, so maybe I'm being biased :D
But yeah, it's just personal taste really, you didn't miss anything, haha. why? what "regional" guys are you into?

(and damn, we're so off-topic now)
I honestly don´t prefer any region anymore. I´ve already been into Spanish, Czech, Scottish, Finnish, Swedish, Bulgarian, English and Italian guys in my life, but I´m (fortunately) still stuck with my German bf for about nine years... so if I learned something it´s: Region don´t matter at all as long as he´s hot ;)

oh wow, you've been all over the place. but see, you've been with the German for 9 years, that's gotta say something ;)
My most common has been Irish and German. altho it's not like I choose them based on the region, it just turns out that way.

Still though, even the americanized stuff usually beats the shit out of the legitimately american metal bands.

yup, new Bodom is a good example of this.

This guy just made himself look like a complete jackass by putting out a COB lick DVD, calling it legendary, and then putting those songs on there. What is wrong with certain people, who do they think they are fooling.

If I was going to show a new person COB and wanted them to hear a "legendary lick", i would show the intro to Lake Bodom. To me, nothing epitomizes what COB used to mean to me like the intro to that song. Beautiful, dark, and evil as fuck.

And kudos to the girl from SoCal, I'm from SoCal too and very good taste for sure. There are a few of us out here in the U.S., we aren't all trendy fools.

Honestly you sound like quite a jackass yourself. Who are YOU trying to fool? As if you're some rare genuine American metal fan just because you like the intro to Lake Bodom. This is all subjective matter, whether you realize it or not. It's a good song, sure, but you sound like another one of those elitist pricks who dismiss anything that's not omgclassic SW/HB awsmness!

Wow no need to get so upset. I wouldn't dismiss anything if the music was capable of capturing the same emotion, neoclassical or not. But whether you want to admit it or not, the neoclassical era of Bodom simply had way better music.

1. No one said I was upset.
2. The fact that the music doesn't appeal to you doesn't make it not as capable.
3. Sorry, but re-arranging my words and pasting in "neoclassical era of Bodom" isn't as effective as you might have thought. Many people do think that neoclassical Bodom was the best, but that does not apply to everyone, nor is it the only definition of "legendary licks."

I'm not by any means advocating the release of this legendary licks as a genuine act; I'm mostly responding to the hypocritical and elitist attitude you seem to have.

The amazing thing about music is that its value is completely based upon the personal perspective of its listener, rather than any notion of objectivity beyond the individual. There is no real "better", simply what one person prefers and enjoys more.
