Am i the only one that watches Battlestar Galactica?

Holy fucking fucking shit fucking balls... holy cock fucking asshole whore brain!

My god!

The last 10 episodes... 6 months... WHY?! FUCK THE WRITERS STRIKE!

This was easily one of the best episodes of TV ever, but I feel so hurt having to wait so long to see what happens after this. My gods was it frakkin amazing!

TVGuide.com confirmed with Sci Fi today that Battlestar Galactica's final season beginning in 2009 will air "extra-long" or extended episodes.

Executive producer Dave Eick told the audience at this year's Comic-Con that the final episodes have become so critical to the series arc that they couldn't possibly wrap them up in toaster-sized hour-long installments.

Does this mean we'll get multiple two-hour episodes — more than the 10 remaining planned — from Sci Fi? Eick didn't reveal the exact method of lengthening the episodes, but that should keep us fans frakkin' happy during the long hiatus.

Will the idea of super-sized episodes keep you toasty and warm while you wait for new Battlestar episodes?

Fucking shit yeah!

Okay. I need one or more of you to dumb something down with the show. It's in reference to the gods. Cylons believe in one god, a lot of the humans believe in a gang of gods (like Greek mythology), but now because of Gaius' travels with the Cylons, he's starting to believe in one and is converting people. Amirite?

So I guess the question is: Why? Why the heavy religious overtones? I kinda drift out when they're talking heavily about it.

As for Baltar: His religious beliefs and why he chose them hasn't been explained perfectly well through the series... but it's kind of inferred that part of it has to do with his relations with the cylons, especially the Six in his head. I also believe that part of it is that because of his crime against humanity, he doesn't want to believe in the god he once believed as a sort of attempt to circumvent punishment from the god, and try to keep his mind at ease. RDM and Callis stated at comic-con that this subject is touched on and explained in the final 10 episodes. The cult that follows him is odd... they sort of believe that the single human god wouldn't have let humanity be slain as they were, and would not have put them through so much suffering. What they do not know, is it was Baltar who was responsible, and I'm sure that will come out and the relationship with the cult, and their newly found beliefs, will change.

As for the religious overtones... RDM wants the series to reflect the problems in the real world in a way (quite obvious at the end of last season how far he is going into this). There are so many real world overtones, from religion, to racism, to just about everything you can imagine. The religion aspect is more predominate due to the fact that it is one of the driving forces of the story. Had it not been for the religious beliefs in reflection to prophecy that Roslin had (this can be reflected from the real worlds Israelite tales), they would not have been looking for this "biblical" 13th colony, earth. And even looking into that further, the 13th colony (13 colonies period) is a reference Israelite's 13 tribes, where Earth is represented as Levi.

In the end, without the religious overtones, there would be no point to this show. The thing that sets BSG apart from other Space-faring programs is the fact that it has a story that drives it and it isn't just a series of "ALIEN SHOW UP... KILL ALIEN... YAY... NEXT EPISODE!". It has actual character development, an intense setting, a plot that is ever-thickening, and well timed and orchestrated SPACE BATTLES which have purpose in driving the story instead of just being there.

Better get on those, those were the 3 best!

Edit: Actually, Sine Qua Non can go either way... yeah it sets up shit, but a lot of it is awkward and it's really evident that they were trying to hurry out the episode in case of the writers strike. The last 2 though, Hub and Revelations, can't fucking beat them. Especially Revelations.

*fap fap fap fap fapfapfapfap*

boy i wish i had been at comic-con. are there any videos around of the bsg panel?

Scifi.com has some of it, though some portions are cut, and you can find various BSG shit on youtube.

The scifi one is still worth it, since it leaves Kevin Smith uncut, who is moderating it. On the other hand, I can't seem to find the trailer that was aired before and after the panel.

New York, NY August 7, 2008 - SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new Battlestar Galactica special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by Battlestar Galactica's Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn't account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Battlestar Galactica's intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it unprecedented critical acclaim. In addition to winning a prestigious Peabody Award, the series has been honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Television Programs of the Year by the American Film Institute (AFI) for two years running. This year, the series was honored with six Emmy nominations, including a nod in the prestigious category for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Battlestar is also responsible for introducing the expletive "frak" into the pop culture lexicon.

The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

The final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica will begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.
