Am I the only one that hears alot of similarities beween Baying of the Hounds and The Funeral Portrait? Especially the growled vocal melodies.

Nope. I've noticed that too. I just found it was the general rythm of the song. There's parts where all of a sudden it more or less mirrors The Funeral Portrait. But I love tFP so it's all good.

Usually I don't bother with this type of issues. Of course Opeth has some
parts in songs that sound a bit like an old song, it's just natural. But I really
agree with Wilson on that documentary when he said, and I quote
roughly: "There's a certain distinction in how Mike writes that's immediately
recognizable as Opeth."
It's intresting how different their songs sounds from album to album, but at
the same time, how distinct Opeth they sound.
