I'm watching Gettysburg, havn't in a few years. God damn, great flick and a great time in history. We are pretty cool.

While Gugs isn't around, I'd say Tully is the most patriotic/defensive American on this board.

you mean the gettysburg with jeff daniels as the guy from Maine? Pretty awesome movie. I've been to gettysburg. great place to visit. We have lots of sites here in TN too. Chattanooga is one of my faves

nah, I just don't feel like starting a shitstorm just cause I ran into another loud mouthed arrogant son of a bitch from below the 49th parallel.

The strategy of battles in the Civil War make sme want to fucking bash my face through my monitor. Well, the infantry strategy during individual battles that is, the overall strategy of Lee and Grant was genius of course, but FUCK the way they used infantry in those days was the equivelant of playing roshambo.

ALSO: I hear/read alot of stuff about Civil War sharpshooters/snipers but WHERE THE FUCK are they when fucking GENERALS are standing literally a hundred yards behind the lines or less. Sheeeeesh.

Generals standing hundred yards behind the lines is pretty stupid in the first place. First, if you want to direct orders, you have to be pretty close of your troops, otherwise, the message will get to them too late. Second, a general close to its troops might boost the morales of the infantry, always useful.
