Dude, this isn't Warhammer 40k, you don't want your general anywhere near small arms fire or infantry bombardment.
AsModEe said:Generals standing hundred yards behind the lines is pretty stupid in the first place. First, if you want to direct orders, you have to be pretty close of your troops, otherwise, the message will get to them too late. Second, a general close to its troops might boost the morales of the infantry, always useful.

err I was more referring to the Roman Empire era. When Julius Ceasar was about to lose his fight against Gaul, he standed in the middle of the battle to throw commands and boost the morale.Pyrus said:Dude, this isn't Warhammer 40k, you don't want your general anywhere near small arms fire or infantry bombardment.

AsModEe said:hold on, looking for the link
edit: still didn't find the link on the internet, but I watch an historic tv show this weekend about the battle, and they clearly said that Cesar was in the middle of the battle, stop being a smartass.
Caesar himself has to ride around encouraging his men to hold the line.

Look for the battle against Vercingetorix, the leader of Gaul, in Alesia, then you'll read this:
hmm, what was written there matched the content of tv show I watched. They both mention that Vercengetorix surrenders and that Cesar brings him to Rome, small details that prove the accuracyDick Sirloin said:Yeah cuz a geocities site HAS to be factual [/smartass]

Gettysburg is so spooky as fuck, especially at the bloody angle. Even I, as a Massachusetts patriot, have to marvel at the courage/stubbornness of the Insurrectionists as they executed the hilariously stupid but brave Pickett's charge, which wasn't really a charge, since they walked most of the way across that huge field.dorian gray said:you mean the gettysburg with jeff daniels as the guy from Maine? Pretty awesome movie. I've been to gettysburg. great place to visit. We have lots of sites here in TN too. Chattanooga is one of my faves
nah we had dispensed with them eighty years previously cause they wanted us to drink tea and whatnot.JayKeeley said:Gettysburg? Wasn't that when you were all still British?
